Scratch didnt give me ball?

So he has given me a pair of shoes, bones, a healing potion, but no ball? We are in act 3 now, is it a bug? I swear he gave me his ball way earlier in the first playthrough I had

Don't bother, people will assume you're the problem. I had a similar issue, where Scratch wouldn't give me the ball when he was supposed to. Thankfully, a few long rests solved the issue. In your case, it seems like you're just screwed.

Thank you for being a voice of reason, feel like I'm talking to a wall here with the other people. That sucks a lot, but at least he is in my camp.

EDIT: If your save is from before the update where Scratch's Ball became the item required to summon him, this is an issue caused by said update. I had the same problem.

Well, it could be some kind of rare interaction, I suppose. Like maybe the long rest where he was supposed to give you the ball was replaced by the tiefling party or something, and then it never got rescheduled.

All I can say is that it never happened to me, in a *lot* of playthroughs.

Odd. 167 hours and I have not run into a single bug of this sort. I have had two soft-lock incidents that I attribute to rapid inputs on my part that the engine (probably multi-threading issue) could not handle.

But no bugs. I am sure they are out there. But it is indeed strange regarding this one.

Trying to be reasonable and point out that in order to get the other items 'fetched' for you, the initial 'fetch' game with Scratch needed to be completed. That is what makes the issue so strange.

If you open your skills window, you don't have the summon Scratch ability?

Fresh playthrough made a week ago, so sadly think its a bug that came with it. No issue in my other playthrough that I started right when the game came out.

I've had multiple bugs in this playthrough, items disappearing when swapped out, dialoge thats not supposed to be scheduled until after events popping out before, characters being mad at me for choices I havent even done yet etc

Understood. But did you open the skills window and check each characters skill lists? Is it possible some other character played with Scratch and thus has the ball and skill?

Well after reading this thread, I think I can conclude that there's no way its anything but you or a bug.
Either you didn't take certain steps to trigger it or its a bug.

this didn't seem to work for me. tried the spawn any item mod which seemed to use that kind of id but nothing spawns when put in

Maybe if he has it and you don't notice and leave camp, it is gone for good. I've seen other companions with ! over their heads, then I did 1 other thing and it was gone.

Came here to say 5 long rests since Scratch came to camp and he had yet to offer a ball. I even used a potion to talk to him. Nothing.

SInce your issue is not only 4 months later but from after Hotfix #17 *and* involves a quest time as well, my money is on mods.
Currently or previously installed.

If you are currently using mods or have used them previously, they may be what is causing this issue. It’s best to double check that all mod files are completely removed. To do so, check the 'Mods' and 'Public' folders in the '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data' folder, etc; and if present, both folders are safe to delete. That or you're just not engaging with Sratch, which would be a total douche move and our bestest boy is right in not giving you a ball. :-)

I"m almost to the end of act 1, and Scratch has also never brought me the ball (or anything else). I have speak with animals and talk to him every time I'm in camp. The only cut scenes I've had with him are ones that included the owlbear cub. I assumed I would have gotten it by now.

There's another ball later on you can get in one of the vaults. It doesn't have the orange outline and it's not called scratch's ball, but it's the same thing. You can throw anything in camp (that doesn't explode) and he will retrieve it for you though.
