What is the best shop

I play as a currently level 10 almost 11 wizard that just entered the city of Baldur's Gate. I am looking for Magical gear for my mage and I want to know which shop in the city would be the best for that so I can start selling my stuff there to increase my Affinity with the merchant there.

You DEFINITELY want to go to Sorcerous Sundries in the lower city. There are two merchants in the building and they both have some of the most powerful magic items in the game, especially for a caster. Honorable mention would go to Dammon who, if you kept him alive through acts I and II, will have a shop in the lower city with the best armor in the game for most classes.

Most of the best gear for mages is found, not bought. There's a few good bits from Sorcerous Sundries, a few from Devil's Fee (if you pass a check), and whatever you sold to Dammon in the past. Bonecloaks is my go-to alchemy store, especially if you got them the Noblestalk in the Underdark, but I've never really bothered with merchant affinity in this game anyway. Plenty of gold to splurge on a statue of yourself even after buying out the shops.
