Necromancy Wizard versus Spore Druid
Which is better, and why.

Leaning towards the druid, but I am a noob, so what do I know.

I know nothing about spore druid but I am doing a necro wizard run and I have to say. Its fun as hell

At the moment I can raise 2 ghouls and a mummy. If I kept the necromancy book instead of letting Astarion keep it I could have had 6 ghouls. Early on, zombie chaining is satisfying as hell, just watching hordes of enemies turn into your undead servants

Then, you can use the fun AOE necrotic spells, ignore necrotic damage, and you can still use fireball or lightning. I prefer lightning so I can pretend I'm screaming WITNESS YOUR DOOOOOOM like a psyker

What is zombie chaining? I have Gale as necro but haven't actually been using it up until yesterday, when I realised he can't summon more undead if he already has undead, as in if he has a ghoul and I summon a zombie, the ghoul disappears. What I like about the spore druid, is that they raise the thing that was dead rather than turning into a zombie etc. My experience with both classes is rudimentary, though.

So regular zombies give an effect to enemies for one turn upon a successful hit that basically means until the enemies turn, if they die. They turn into a zombie for you that lasts 10 turns

This works on a surprising amount of NPCs so for example, I've had up to 12 zombies running around

Oh wow. I guess Gale is going to be a lot more useful from now on :D

Spore druid gets a zombie copy (controllable & 50% health) of whatever corpse they use as the target. Most fun I had in the game was sporing a bulette in the Underdark. It was an absolute beast as it smashed through multiple groups of enemies (AOE jump attack, AOE acid breath, claw attack). I was quite sad when I had to leave it behind when exiting the Underdark.

I don't believe the necromancer can use monster undead, only humanoids.

Yeah, we can only do humanoids and it gets rid of their equipment

Still fun for a classic zombie nightmare! But now I'm jealous of the zombie bulette

If you pick up the shroom guy in the underdark, he gives you a mini intro. I had him res one of those vulture things. The zombies also look hilarious, as they are covered in mushrooms :D

Anyone try a level 7 Spore Druid Necromancy Wizard 5?
Perhaps unoptimal but looks fun to run.

First off you need Necromancy Wizard 6 for extra summon...

Could always get the necromancer book so in act 3 you can still get 4 ghouls plus undead plus spore

I find those ghouls a bit annoying as we cannot control them and they tend to act dumb xD
