Does this NPC appear in act 3 under these conditions? [Spoilers obviously]
Just going to leave a bit of text up here so people don't accidentally spoil themselves when hovering over the title. The long and short of it is that i think i did something in an earlier act that most people don't do, so i haven't been able to find a lot of information about this situation online, only information about what happens if you follow the most common path about it.

okay that's probably enough. So i found out recently that Auntie Ethel can be encountered again in act 3, but everything i found says that only happens if you fighter and allow her to escape in act 1.

i never fought her. i went through her little hidden door after she tried to help me, she told me to leave, i looked around, decided "Nah, i'm good. thanks" and left.

So as a result of that, i never actually fought her, and all the guides i can see on how to encounter her in act 3 all work on the assumption that i did.

Does anyone know if she just straight up doesn't appear if you don't? or could maybe point me in the right direction on how to check?

Haven't tried visiting the location that is supposed to be her home just yet. but i saw where she was supposed to be, and where you're supposed to pick up her trail, and so far they both seem to be duds.

I killed her in Act 1. She still appears in Act 3.

i didnt encountered her yet, because i didnt killed her (just you need to dont killshot her, she will surrender when her hp is like 10%), i guess if you kill her or you skip her quest to save the girl then you will not meet her again in act 3

She is still in act 3 if you kill her in act 1 since hags can't be killed that easily.

She appears if you kill her, no idea what happens if you ignored her.

The connecting thread between encountering her in act 1 and encountering her in act 3 isn't Ethel, it's actually Mayrinna. Mayrinna is the one that gathers the group of randos to hunt hags, which is what segways into the hag hunting quest in act 3.

Since you left without saving Mayrinna, you likely lost access to the act 3 quest, regardless of whether Ethel was alive or dead.

Yeah none of these answer OP at all.
OP state they think you only find her if you fight her and let her live, so the responses are relevant even if people do not know the answer. You answer the question even less.

Also, even if people don't know the answer to the question, posting helps the subject not sink into oblivion, which happens to pretty much everything that's not mostly irrelevant moaning, and we might just also want to know the answer.

For what it's worth the anti-hag league or whatever they call themselves are present in Act 3 regardless of any outcome in Act 1 as well as the quest trigger for that questline in Baldur's Gate.

Good to know as I also did not do anything with the hag in Act 1

based on the lore (mushroom and stuff) she should always be there in act 3. killing her or interacting with her in act 1 shouldn't matter

I don't think so actually. i wasn't able to find any posters or letters about it. all i found was an empty house with a book about hags in it, that's about it.

the place where your're supposed to meet with the anti-hag league? the condemned house? that was instead filled with this small gang called "the sharp eyes" or "black eyes" or "somethinge-eyes" etc. Apparently looking for some treasure in the basement.

and they were fight-on-sight too. no chance of conversation.

If you saw the Anti-Hag posters then you'll get the quest with the following steps (just what I did) and you meet Aunty Ethel again in Act 3.
And since people are saying whether you kill her or not, she'll appear anyways.
I fought her, but spared her life. And saved Mayrinna with her husband.

The steps of the quest in case you're stuck:

1) the quest leads you to an abandoned house , read the eviction, letters there
2) then it leads you to a bigger house, of golth ? I don't remember the name now but there you have like 3 or 4 people , the Anti-Hag community. And if you have saved Mayrina in Act1 , she'll appear there too !
3) then you go to the blushing mermaid. You see nothing wrong there right?
4 wrong, find the hidden basement in the cellar/wine thingy. It's a wall, where you don't break it, but actually go THROUGH it. Like Harry Potter with the train
5) there you kill the Hag worshippers, and go to another door that is locked
6) explore, and find the lever, that lever leads to that wine cellar again
7) talk to the captain

My first playthrough I never found Auntie Ethyl's teahouse at all. She did not appear in Act 3.

Instead, some random bandits were holed up in the abandoned house in Act 3.

i did find the teahouse and let her take Astarian's eye, still no sign of her in act 3 though. as far as i know, the wall you "walk through" is just a wall. might need to test that later though.

There are no anti-hag posters either so far as i can tell. i suspect she's just not there.

Hags are immortal unless you vaporize everyone of their atoms of their spores
