I hate act 2
I have no idea why this is, to be honest.
Then again I'm prioritizing the "Baldur's Gate" side quests right now instead of going for the companion missions, which I assume are more interesting, and the two final (?) missions where I fight the two big baddies of the chapter. So maybe that's where it starts to get good again. But I'm borderline losing interest in the game right now.
And you can chose where to go so you can plan according to what your class/ build needs.
Like if you are a wizzard you can rush to get the spellmight gloves and then to Sorcerers sundres for the robe and staff.
Or if you are a monk you can rush to Raphael first and get the gloves , health amulet and legendary armor etc.
My only complaint is that by the time I collect all the fun gear I have beaten most bosses and don’t have enough enemies to use them on besides the final battle which isn’t that long sadly .
Would have been a lot more fun if the last battle went through the entire city , had multiple mini bosses , a few side missions like rescue civilians , help evacuate some NPCs etc.
Like an act 4 but all combat oriented.
That’s really my only issue with act 3
A1 and 2 are a roadtrip journey, where you arrive at a location, do something and move on, it’s a linear path.
Then you’re in Act 3 and suddenly the game becomes a semi-open world city sandbox game, with the classic ‘errand boy’ quests, too much people to talk to and keep track of, overwhelming amount of quests.
It feels like you’re playing Final Fantasy X but then in the last third you’re suddenly playing FF Online.
It wouldn’t feel as strange if there was some sort of larger settlement to explore between Act 1 and 2.
If that's true, I might actually like Act 3 the most, in spite of being unfinished.
A game should not have a bunch of extra random EXP in it, you should pretty much hit max level near max completion or do it like Final Fantasy where you can just continue to grind for EXP if you want to be extra OP in the final boss fight.
