Kill Minthara without taking out the entire base - is this possible?
Like it says in the title. Can she be assassinated unnoticed rather than turning the entire Goblin camp against me?

I assassinated Gut and Dror but have to yet figure out how to take out Minthara.

Bah, humbug!

I managed to stealth kill all three, only to find out that none of their deaths registered. Journal has not updated, it still says to kill them. Went back to Halsin in the warg pits, and he is still saying that the leaders need to be removed. I also still have all 3 icons depicting the last knows location of the 3 leaders on the map. Gut and Dror are just lying there in a pool of blood, while Minthara fell into the abyss after I stealthily took out the bridge support while she was walking over it.

I guess there is no stealthy alternative and I will just have to reload an earlier save and then take out the entire camp. I admit I am very disappointed that playing stealth won't work here.

I don't know if this is common knowledge but you can say minthara where the camp is, take a long rest. It will lure her out outside the camp and you can fight her alongside the thieflings in front of the grove. The consequences are that 1. the situation with the goblins is resolved, thus you don't have to fight the other chiefs + halsin wants to party, and the goblin camp is empty. The merchants have move to an other zone later in the game.

Any attempts to engage in stealth kills in this game tend to end in failure. There is an instance if you play as Durge, where you can go and kill a person on your own with no witnesses, yet everyone somehow knows about it afterwards. Also, if you don't enter TB mode and sneak attack people, they just insta heal back to full. :D

Take out eye silently in one hit, push the rest(minthara + 2 adds in room) into the abyss when no one is looking using minor illusion to get them where they need to be. Done. It's very possible, just a bit tricky to pull off. From my experience the camp turns hostile when all three leaders are killed and the trigger is the quest advancement.

Yeah, it's totally possible to stealh kill all of them, Darkness\Fog and Command: Approach are your friends, but the camp still aggroes :steamsad: They just insta-turn red even if they can't see you and will attack on sight.

there is a limit how much they can heal tho. You can just sneak attack them repeatedly so long as you have good stealth.

Yep, except in my case the quest advancement failed to trigger. It seems that not one of the 3 kills registered since I still have all 3 as map icons as well as in the journal.

If the wandering guard near Minthara just happens to be in a position that he can see it happen and run out to the rest of the camp, attacking Minthara will aggro the whole lot. If you wait until he is basically near the bridge to Minthara and kill him he doesn't "spread the word" so no general aggro. I've never killed Dror without general aggro though, so leave him to last. I suspect the floating orb could do it as well - as in the Grymforge later you are told those orbs are in contact with the Absolute.

There are multiple secret paths leading in/out of the goblin fort.

If you don't want to fight them all you have multiple escape routes to take after assassinating the leaders ( or you can simply fast travel but that's kinda lame ).

One is a cracked wall in the rafters above the female goblin leader's room

Another is through the ruins past some locked doors, leading to the underdark.

I don't mind taking out the camp, it would not be the first time for me. I wanted to try a stealth approach this time around but apparently the game won't allow you to do that.

I find it really weird that the quest wouldn't advance after I stealth killed all three goblin leaders. It seems then that Larian didn't want us to have that capability for this particular quest and there is no choice but to aggro the camp.

Edit: in essence, the camp turning aggro is what advances the quest, not the killing of the the 3 leaders.

It's a you problem. Just tried for good measure all 3 dead no witnesses, quest advances as normal and camp turns aggro so sneaking out is needed. Might be a bug or w/e, but works for me. I always got the message "absolute leaders gone so they return to doing normal goblin stuff". They even tell they would normally kill the player if the leaders would not be there on your arrival multiple times over.

It is easy if you start the battle in the rafters above the enemies. No shovings needed.

The only good goblins is a dead goblins, the first and foremost rule.

Can you elaborate? I'm not quite following. Are you saying it is possible to kill all three without turning the camp against the player, or are you saying the camp will turn against the player no matter what after stealth killing all three leaders, assuming the kills even register?

I am not sure why my stealth kills fail to register with the game.
