How to open backpacks in the trade screen?
I put stuff in backpacks I want to sell and it seems pointless because I can't open the backpack in the trade screen.

Am I missing some way to do this?

If you're willing to use mods, there's an "auto-sell" mod on Nexus that vendors things as you pick them up, IF they're either A.) literally vendor trash, or B.) on your list of "stuff I want to sell" (the mod adds a special bag to your inventory, anything you put in there will be added to the "auto vendor" list). It doesn't "fix" the root issue of inventory management being clunky as hell, but it does alleviate the symptoms.

If you don't wish to mod, I think your only real option is to keep everything loose in inventory. You could theoretically make one person with high str or a Hill Giant elixir the "pack mule" and have them carry all the stuff.
Thank you.
Do you know the name of the mod?

I use that mod but when there are things I don't want to autosell for various reasons (most equipment, I only have it vendor the goblin trash weapons), right before I go to the vendor, I mark those items as wares. They go into my main inventory then and are easier to either sell as wares or sell individually. But Ctrl+clicking them in the bags lets me highlight a whole bunch of them at once then click "send to wares".

Thank you, that is a great tip.

I also use backpacks/pouches to hold items I want to sell. I just sell the whole darn thing. If I have items I am not sure about selling yet, I don't put them in that pack. It's easy enough to pick up plenty of backpacks, so I'm not too fussed about selling the pack too. I have a box full of packs & pouches in my traveler's chest back at camp. Otherwise I just select all of the items in the pack with shift-click and use "send to wares" if I'm not bartering.

Just a rant: this is hilarious and annoying, because this QoL issue persists since DOS 1 game, released by Larian in 2014... A lot of the same issues actually.

Just another reason to never trust people claiming they love realism.

I love the idea, in practice you just end up with people very pleased with themselves enemies are dropping lore friendly giant spider kneecaps or kobold gift shop ashtrays "Because realistically spiders don't have gold! You may now praise me for adding button presses that add nothing."
