I'm looking for more CRPGs like Baldur's Gate 3. Suggestions?
Hi. I'm in the middle of my second playthru and I have thoroughly enjoyed this game to bits. I need to start looking to the future for new games when I have exhausted this one. I love single player rpgs whether they include dnd mechanics or not.

I have not played another dnd single player rpg since neverwinter nights which was released in the early 2000s. Does anyone have any suggestions for some games like baldurs gate 3 or somewhat similar? I want to add I have tried Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 and do not like them. They are too archaic for me. For suggestions I would like the games if they use dnd rules to be only third edition or higher please.

If you are fine with setting being futuristic/dystopian, I would recommend Wasteland 3. It has excellent turn based combat and world setting like BG3 and I highly recommend it. You can play Wasteland 3 without playing 1-2.

None. There are current no RPGs like BG3 as all of them are dated like 10-20 years old and can’t compare .

You best bet is Divinity Original sin 2 as it’s also made by the same company but it’s much harder .

Sadly they don’t have bards there so I won’t play it lol

For non-futuristic setting, Expeditions: Rome is excellent as well. It has more balance towards turn based combat, but it also has RPG choices and exploration.

Disco Elysium
Tyranny
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
Pillars of Eternity

Oh I don't mind if they are too old. Just as long as they aren't older than Neverwinter Nights which came out in early 2000s.

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2(Better story, writing and characters but the games are very dated graphically)
Fallout 1 & 2(Same with BG 1 & 2)

More recent titles:
Pathfinder games(There's two of them - I've yet to play them myself)
Tyranny(Wasn't a fan personally)
Pillars of Eternity 1& 2
Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2(Same developers - Divinity Original Sin 2 is fantastic!)
Wasteland 3(Futuristic hellhole) / Wasteland 2 was good also but has a very distinct "Unity Engine" feel to it - the floatiness of the engine when it's not heavily modified.
Dragon Age: Origins - It's not top down but it's very much a CRPG given the gameplay and wealth of choice plus sheer scale of the game and game world.

Lots more just can't think of them. The oldies are probably the best because while they're limited graphically they can do so much more mechanically in combat abilities, character interactions, scale and branching dialogues. BG 1 and BG 2 are probably the only games I've played where you can kill every single character and still finish the game.

Try divinity then. Very similar system, turn based like BG3 , same company- there is a reason why people call BG3 “Divinity 2.5”

You also get to chose races, classes , etc, graphics are similar , setting is fantasy as well just not D&D

You get companions with their own stories as well etc

Try divinity Original sun 2!

Sure you would like Divinity original sin 1 and 2 from same company. Divinity 2 is one of my all time favorites. Dragon Age: Origins if you never played it is classic. Its a bit old but I think ultimate edition on sale for like 9 bucks. Plus it has Claudia Black voice acting in it I mean come on. Pathfinders are good once you figure them out cause they use a lot of information but they have a lot of class choices kind of like bg3 but more in depth class building I felt.

Yeah Divinity 2 is great. Same formula, biggest flaw imo is the linearity. Like in BG3, when you've gone through an area it's dead and done. Not one actual random encounter to be had.

But: fun story, fun writing, fun mechanics and roughly the same combat/coop system system.

I'll take a look at that then. Thanks for the suggestion.

Divinity original sin 1 and 2 comes to mind.
Pathfinder, Pillars of eternity

There is also expeditions: rome which is different(alternate history rome) and dragon age origins(don't bother with 2 and whatever next)- while not crpg it was made by the old school bioware in an attempt to made oldschool rpgs into 3d era and it's an absolute must play

Absolutely Divinity original sin 2, I actually prefer it to baldur's gate 3 in many ways.

Pillars of Eternity (the story and companions are very well written)
Torment: Tides of Numenera (more or less modern AND inspired by Planescape: Torment)

wrath of the righteous is the best one hands down even compaired to bg. it has more levels more characters more spells more options more builds bg is just the new flavor on the block thats about all it has over wrath....and the dice roll i like it but it takes to long i dont need a cut scenes for the dice this isnt starfiel

I would caveat Divinty OS 1 suggestions slightly - the first act is something of a slog which may turn you off - if I could skip straight to the 2nd act, I would. Also better with a friend.

If you find can't get through the first act suggest just skipping to the next game.
D:OS 2 is set 1200+ years after OS 1, and you don't need to have played OS 1 to understand it.
