What happens lorewise to Durge if you don't pick Durge? (spoilers)
I know you can't recruit Durge as a companion but do you see them mentioned at all in the game? Or was Orin Bhaal's chosen from the start and there was never a second Bhaalspawn?

If you go into Orin's room behind her when you aren't the Dark Urge, you can find a dead, naked white dragonborn labelled as a Dead Bhaalspawn who is presumably the Dark Urge. Likely one that she killed instead of just injuring and stuffing a tadpole into [/spoilers]

You see them, yes, but unless you know about that origin, it's unlikely you'll realize it's them.

I am doing the dark urge redemption playthrough and I love it. i romanced Gale during it. You really find out alot when playing the dark urge. even if doing redemption ark which i think is best in my opinion. I am in act 3 and really enjoying it much more than my regular game characters i typically play.

Ah, that makes sense, thanks!

on my non-dark urge run I still found the notes talking about balthazar's apprentice Kressa Bonedaughter and her "pet". This pet is actually the dark urge. It becomes very clear if you play as dark urge and talk to her in the illithid colony. But the fact that you can find the same notes even while playing as non-dark urge means that the dark urge found in Orin's chamber was also tadpoled and crashed with us. But in this alternate version of events they went back to Baldur's Gate on their own and then got killed by Orin. The notes also mention that Kressa's "pet" was able to maintain a sense of self even when tadpoled so that could explain why they manage to get to Baldur's Gate without the protection of the artifact.

DUrge is essentially living in an alternate universe. Just like any other variation of the main character.

I missed that on my non-Dark Urge run. When I'm off my blood and guts kick, I'll have to look for that.

durge feels like it should have been the main character instead of a custom one.

What do you call a custom character controlled by the player in a single-player game?

Imo, DU is the main character. Story makes a lot more sense that way and feels like you have some importance to the story much like the companions.

Which is why from now on i'll only keep picking DU when i start a new game and that way I can either be a murderhobo or a redeemed good gal. Or in between.

Most people refer to them as Tav since that is the default name in the custom character
