MODS - steam workshop support soon ?
Larian said that they going for mod support for BG3 but what does it mean exacly ? does it mean BG3 will receive its own steam workshop on steam ? or something else ?

Anyone knows more about this or knows some rumours what and when ?

All a workshop will do is make it easier for people who do not have a clue about what they are doing to bork up their games.

Likely "support" will be official modding tools. I prefer to get my mods on third party sites like Nexus or Curseforge than from workshop, but that's just person preference honestly. I don't think there has been official news yet except for the promise of the support coming sometime after launch....so eventually.

probably not soon
they still have bugs and performance to fix

for now only people who know what they are doing use mods, but if they open workshop now it will expose to more people that might not know 100% of what they are doing, and that complicated things when the game is still not mostly fixed

Thank God the priesthood of 'leet is here to protect us from all that 'damage' mods can do. Thank you my betters!

based on their history, it will be several months before permanent mod support is added. You don't want mods while you are still tinkering with the primary code, as you will get thousands of complaints from people that use mods that all of a sudden are broken.

you're gonna have to be patient until they are actually "Done done" with the game. it's quite a complex bit of code so, at least a few months.

Or make it easier to uninstall some mods being used in single player when you want to play with friends who aren't using the mods.

It would be great to have a workshop on Steam. But I noticed that none of their other games have this.

If you keep asking this I am going to pull this car over...

Unlikely. Using nexusmods isn't exactly rocket science anyway.

I hope there will be a workshop soon. THere are excellent mods availalbe on Nexus but they are very fiddly and sometimes almost impossible to load for someone who is not an IT-expert like myself

You do not need to be an IT expert for copy & paste actions.

This just in: Some people aren't smart or capable. If moving files to different folders is too hard for someone, they're unfortunately just not gonna be able to use mods sometimes.

Or it will allow mod usage in cloud gaming platforms like Geforce Now. Which is currently the only way to play games there with mods.

Workshop would only be useful if you could create new story lines, encounters, and environments. The independent mods address so many things that it would make anything less than that redundant and unnecessary.
