PSA: Disguise Self Might Block Dark Urge Options?
I noticed that, after I assumed a Disguise Self form, my character (temporarily) lost the Dark Urge tag. The Dark Urge dialogue options with my companions didn't appear until I returned to my original form.

This is very disappointing, as it now makes me hesitant to, say, turn into a tiefling when visiting the tiefling camp- I could be missing out on Dark Urge options!

Tag options are generally few and far between - as for Dark Urge specific options, this is one of those things that you'll have to live with sadly. Playing the Dark Urge has consequences, which means you will likely just have to bite the bullet so to speak, and remain as the Dark Urge, and simply use a Custom Tav in an alternate playthrough if you wish to see those options with losing expressly out on the Dark Urge content.

That is very good to note though. I was aware that Disguise Self/Shapeshift/Seeming changed which racial options were available to you, but if it outright cuts off Dark Urge specific Tagged content, it means that you'll have to be very clear with your intentions in character design with it. What is odd though is that the Baldurian Tag did not go away, even if one shifted into a Githyanki, while a Githyanki did not gain the Baldurian Tag when shifting into any other race. So the Dark Urge tag may be under the Racial Tags, instead Background Location Tags which do not seem to change.

I'm hoping this is the case, but I wouldn't be surprised with the numerous issues the most recent patch introduced.

Make a tiefling dark urge.

Is there a formal way to report this as a bug, then?

Haha. And here I thought it was just my game being randomly bugged. This is what I get for not spoilering myself about Dark Urge stuff, I only wondered if something was wrong when I realized I never had the option to cut Gale's hand off, and that was the only Dark Urge thing I knew definitely was A Thing. I even got an Inspiration point for resisting the option I was not actually even presented with, which should have definitely made me wonder sooner.

If my Dark Urge does not commit any random murders now I will declare this to be a hilarious bug albeit a weird one. I decided my character hated who he was, because he did not understand why he felt how he did, so he wanted to stay in disguise at all times lest someone unsavory from his past recognize him. Guess that might end up being even more true than I thought at this rate!

did they fix this in the meantime with patches? I remember being super annoyed with it playing the game on release. didn't play since, wanna do replay now after final patch
Funniest thing when people praise a game for the tag choices matter, and complain when choices matter.

Imagine that, I disguise myself to not look as a cop, but I want to keep wearing my badge in an undercover op, for example.

See the issue? Or is it too complex?

Yeah it's a catch 22. You either keep the tag so Durge can say Durge lines while transformed, or get rid of the tag so your character isn't referred/recognised as the Dark Urge when disguised.

Probably the former is safer, though they could have fixed this issue by separating tags into two parts: One part being how NPCs react to you and the other being what dialogue options are available for the player to say always.

So for disguise self it would disable NPCs passively reacting to you as Durge, while also retaining Durge dialogue so the character can still initiate it.

Or maybe activate certain "disguise self as x race" tags that take priority over normal tags when disguise self is activated. If there's no conflict with the disguise self tags then normal tag options are still available.

If you're under-cover cop posing as a drug dealer, you shouldn't get amnesia and forget that you're actually a cop, if situation warrants, for example having some information about law, or identifying yourself to another cop.
(Dark urge has amnesia, but that's not relavant in this context.)
It's actually not that difficult to implement, it's just an edge case that they didn't handle it seems.
Dialogues being gone on shapeshift is simply broken / bug,

It's only broken or a bug if it is unintended. Design decisions you dislike or find illogical aren't by themselvesx bugs. They tied dialogue choices to the tags. Shapeshifting changes the tags. It's an intended interaction.

I'd buy that if the intent made any sense at all
