Talk option not displaying bug

as the title says, I just reached act 3 and I'm trying to talk to some NPC's (specifically Ulma & the cat Grub) and it doesn't let me start a conversation with them. When I hover my mouse over them and right click it lets me examine them but I can't speak to them. I know you can speak to Grub because the first time I entered Rivington it gave me the option but now it isn't anymore. With regards to Ulma, the other NPCs around her tell me to talk to her but when I try to the option doesn't come up. Is anyone else having this issue and does anyone know how to fix it? I've already tried saving and reloading.

Hey I just got to act 3 and am having the same issue - Did you find a fix?

I did not unfortunately, I just ignored it and moved on

Ulma could be due to how you handled the Gur NPC in ACT 1 but no-one's going to do identical play-throughs check that :-) That's why Larian spent so much time making those regression test systems. Grub's odder as (afaik) there's no earlier act trigger that could possibly involve him?

Mods / no Mods / Never used Mods?
Willing to share a savegame just before entering Act 3 to confirm?

It is late answer, but maybe for others it will help. I just get there, and had the same problem, but walking around I noticed, Astarion had a chat window on him, he was engaged in the conversation, so I switched to him, and it had already started.
