Monster in the underdark just keeps running away?
I'm super confused and getting a bit pissed off but there's a lizard looking thing in the underdark that I've encountered and nearly killed three times... but it has this ability where it just gets to automagically exit combat, burrow, heal itself, and ♥♥♥♥ off until we meet again.

Is there some trick to getting rid of this thing because it is incredibly aggravating that it just gets to run away without passing any sort of check

Update: I killed it. But that was annoying.

is comes out - attacks you
comes out - attacks the creatures around you
then he comes out the final time when you find his "layer" spot

i was first to be confused
You know that is the thing your druids can do too ? lol

Anyway, you dont need to "wait find his spot", just use CC on it with the last character turn before its turn.

(should've been a simple plan to hatch)

Ok. And now it just did a jump attack that dealt 38 damage 1 hit ko'ing my tank and then got a *second move* where it one hit ko another member of my party.

I don't play D&D, but is D&D like this? If so, I don't think I'd like D&D.

There has been a lot of things I haven't understood about this game, but as far as I can tell if you lose you just reload.

Am I missing something? I think in D&D isn't the DM supposed to do stuff to keep the campaign going?

Also, I did win the fight, this just felt dumb 🤷‍♂️

i have finished the game, and there were not many things that actual defeated me, im thinking about it in my memory - i wiped on this creature sending my party flying into the abyss.

i died to one boss with a giant hammer, that you will soon encounter.

And i have died fighting a secret dragon boss.

And thats all, no more have i ever lost an encounter for the rest of the game.

And all of this on the hardest difficulty.

So enjoy the small things that give you a challenge, soon you will become so strong (at lvl 12) that you will one shot everything. (no reloads)

You can for example use your IQ, and send 1 character ahead, triggering the creature to come out of ground, and then use other 3 characters to join the fight.

Use your brain, and enjoy your time, this is a story game, not a skill based game like Elden Ring.

Sanctuary is your friend. Save often. Does he like to plop out at a specific spot? Send 1 guy in with Sanctuary, then have the 3 remaining party members sneak over and dump some smoke barrels around him. Boom.

I killed it on the second go round. o.O

The first time he didn't attack me, I just seen him tufting up the dirt and that was that. Second time it attacked, I got it to half health, it dug under the dirt and healed for 25% health. Third time I came across it I killed it and looted it. It was never seen again.

Honestly, it wasn't that tough. Just had to watch out for the AoE attack it does that can knock your characters back. It's clearly supposed to be a mini-boss but it didn't really feel that way at all...

I always kill it before it can take a turn lol , I never let it escape

I encountered it once. It burrowed out of combat when I did some damage. I completed the Underdark and never worried about it again.

There was a hint that it is territorial, so I simply retreated out of a bad position the first time and killed it later when the situation was more to my advantage when it showed up later. It's nothing to worry about.
