Works fine post patch.
That large white circle when you are casting it is the max distance. If it shows the movement indicator it means you are out of range.
You also have to be able to basically see the target landing point. So if you don't see the small white circle where you want to go, it means you cannot see the landing point.
About the only way to reliably transport the party is to make sure at least two members have Dimension Door...
Oh yeah, bonus points for Dimension Door being impossible to cast if you don't bring someone with you. But then I guess that is just Misty Step.
Also mistystep doesn't provoke attacks of opertunity nor does it cost movement (unlike jump) and you can teleport to areas you cant jump through.
It's a different spell for different occasions, if you don't like it simply don't use it.
@OP: the spell requires line of sight, that is most likely why it says you are out of movement
Interesting.
The boss ended up in the lava for me as well. Found the sweet spot on the ledge and jumped in on top of him with high hp character in turn-based mode. Looted him, then Misty Step to high ledge directly behind the jump off point. Worked fine. :)
And I'm now worried that that is "Fixed"
As that would very much bite
You are not supposed to use that to get through closed solid doors, though.
