Game crashing in multiplayer after update?

my singleplayer save works fine, but me and 3 friends started a new save, and we keep crashing in the nautiloid over and over. specifically right after the first fight.

is this an update issue, or a multiplayer issue? we ARE using mods.

BUT its only the backgrounds and face expanded mods (for more customization options) and they both work perfectly before the update and in singleplayer now. so idk if that is the issue

EDIT:

uninstalled all mods. and ran through singleplayer and crashes in the same exact spot
friends are using the old mods with no issues. even in FULL vanilla i have issues with this crash, cant play past the tutorial fight now or make multiplayer characters without a crash

This is a mod issue. The game got updated today so the mods aren't updated to it.

This is a mod issue. The game got updated today so the mods aren't updated to it.

might be. im removing all mods and trying again. the thing is my singleplayer saves all work fine with no crashes. and this crash ONLY happens right after the laezel fight so i have no idea what would cause the crash mod wise since mine are purely cosmetic

This is a mod issue. The game got updated today so the mods aren't updated to it.

uninstalled ALL mods fully and tried again. crashed at the same spot. not a mod issue

interestingly 2 of my friends tried WITH the mods i had installed and it worked fine for them on singleplayer

I have this odd feeling that everyone didn't fully delete their mods if you're still crashing when your problem 100% is caused by mods.

Could be the fact it wasn't a new game so mod data could still be on the save causing the crash unless u made a new start, and even then if any files remain from mods it can cause crashing, a fresh install would completely fix it tho.

This would mean deleting the steam folder for bg3, the appdata folder, and anything else of larian for bg3 that remains.

I uninstalled everything. all of it. fresh vanilla even verified game files. bg3 mod manager completely empty. and native mods removed.

singleplayer brand new saves. even made a brand new multiplayer save.

my friends are using the exact same mods i was using they dont have any issues. even in full vanilla im still having crashing issues.

cant make new save without repeated crash after tutorial fight, cant hoin a multiplayer save cause endless crashes after joining.

my singleplayer saves that existed PRE update all work perfectly with or without mods.

i have 100+ hours with zero crashes or issues. the moment i play after this patch endless crashes. regardless of vanilla or not

Having this same issue, it's something to do with the new "eavesdrop" option, to automatically listen to cinematics.

Disable it and I was able to play again.

I was also having an issue with the game not loading on my other player's screen in act 3, had to go to camp, invite them, and then it worked.

super helpful didnt even think about that it was so minor. im also the only one who was using this in my friend group.
