Mac and Command Q

Larian, please add 'Are you sure you want to quit?' pop-up when players press `Command Q` on the Mac release!

Reason: `Q` is used to rotate the camera, `Command` is used to highlight objects like the `Left Alt` keybind on the PC. Combining the camera rotate, highlight option, and force quit into the same set of keyboard 'chords' is pretty bad. I believe I've force quit the game three times in 20 minutes so far by accident. Adding in a 'are you sure?!' would be really great.

And yes to everyone here, mac problems are basically nice to haves. But this game is super awesome and we need to have it on as many platforms as possible.

It's absolutely bizarre they didn't think to simply put it on the option key or something as it's the very epitome of 'no duh', it'd be like if the PC version used the windows key to highlight items (which forced the start menu open mid game).

Luckily as far as I am aware this oddity can be changed in keybindings to something else.

fellow mac user, are you using mods? if so, could i please get a copy of your code? i can't get mine to work and i'm so frustrated :(

This got me a few times today. I over 300 hours on EA and Geforce Now where it used the option key. Command key is more ergonomic though. Will take a few days to get used to it.

What is the grave key? I saw it in the bindings menu.

+1 to OPs comment. As for the grave key, it's to the left of the 1. Has ` and ~ on it.

I just rebound CMD to TAB, you know, like all other isometric CRPGs since the dawn of time. The Infinity Engine games have spoiled me. I now just expect 'highlight interactables' to be the TAB key, and the Divinity games always annoyed me with their weird keybindings.

Have to say, the game is running buttery smooth on my M1 Pro. I've uninstalled it from my rickety Windows machine because it was just miserable by comparison.

What framerate are you getting? I tried running it on a M1 Pro MacBook at 1440p as well, and even with FSR enabled I'm getting sub-30 FPS (mostly High presets + FSR in Quality mode).

I thought the game was crashing for me, getting 3 crashes in 15 minutes. This post saves the day.

You're right. As an advice, you can also rotate the camera with the mouse wheel. Maybe that helps.

Can anyone explain how to do this? I cannot find the cmd key in the game options / keyboard bindings

omg, I have the exact same problem. I'm used to playing and holding my finger on the alt all the time to test my surroundings and then tried to play on my Mac it kept quitting

Have you attempted to go to Larian's bug report site and enter this as a bug? They've replied so quickly to the bug reports I've entered. I bet they'd look into this. To find this, launch the game on mac and click on the "bug report" option in the launcher and that'll take you right there. No offense, but complaining here won't fix issues. Reporting them directly to the company will be a better use of your time :) I'm also a QA tester for video games, so I know a little bit about how the industry works.

Don't need to do a bug report. Go into Keybinds, change the rotate camera left button from Q to something else and/or change the highlight everything key from CMD, and then you don't have to worry about hitting CMD-Q in accidental combination and quitting the game.

I mean, it's not per se a bug, though I admit it is irritating that two commonly used keys if hit at the same time will quit your game. I know I used to do it accidentally myself until I "retrained" myself to be more careful about it -- then said, f it, and just changed the keybinds.

It would be nice if the game would at least ask if you accidentally hit CMD-Q if you "really" wanted to quit, and asked for confirmation ... a lot of programs (not just games) will do this .... last I checked, though, the game does not. And if you hadn't quicksaved recently ... yeah, it's really f'n frustrating.

Larian could do Mac users a solid just by asking for confirmation if you really want to quit when you hit CMD-Q. (BTW, maybe it does now after updates. Dunno.)
