game is too brutal?

Im a new player, got to act 2. My main char is bard college of lore, i have domain of light Shadowheart, Default Laezel, Rogue Ranger Astarion. So i was fighting this Karniss spider guy along with his allies, my shadowheart has 38 hp points, whenever anyone of his allies attack her, she loses 1/3 hp. Playing on balanced and really my first experience in turn based games, especially DND based. I have nearly 20 hours in div2, i want to finish it once im done with bg3. So, any suggestions or tips on what should i do? Any help is appreciated, thanks you.
edit: same problem, now it happens with knights of shield hideout ambush
edit2: i leveled, was able to kill rapha first try, game is much easier now tbh
edit3: ive already finished game long ago, im now on durge playthrough. game turned out to be pretty easy.

Maybe you do not play many party based rpgs and are not very familiar with them, cause those two are some of the easiest in the genre.

See, I gave up in Divinity 2 when I had to fight slugs and the whole map was on fire. And the slugs would heal in the fire. I would drown the fire with water and it would only last one turn.
In BG3, I am now fighting Grym. This guy has like 300 hp and is has high resistance.

just give him a good old fashioned hammer to fall

takes about 2 attacks with hammer to kill him ( the hammer in middle of arena, you need to put lava on, then trigger him to stand in middle in this round-shaped platform, then press lever and boom

wait, are you asking if in a fight a party member get damaged is too brutal? i dont understand lol;
i mean, lvl? cleric whit 38 hp, one shot burns her 1/3 hp is not too brutal, is too easy for you imho, if enemies are hitting her is because her AC and position in the battlefield, plus a cleric is a caster and i think AI will try to shot caster first if no any lower AC or nearest enemy in the sight

also, game gets easier with time i swear. i can struggle a lot in act1 and never die in act3, if you can make super cool build, you could even get good enough at act 2.
Make sure to explore everything, one of my biggest mistakes was rushing.. take your time, dont hurry up. I found a few locations and A LOT of quests that i never saw in act1. A lot of secrets, too.

Which slugs are you talking about? in cave? i guess act1 or 2 not sure

Well, how do I get good gear. My Wyll still only has level 10 armour.

There were a couple of hard fights. Like when you first meet the big bad necromancer guy in that big room full of people.
I raged hard until i found one simple solution.... which was to set the map on fire with wall of fire spells and run away, letting the enemies burn themselves to death trying to get to me.
Didn't help that whenever i tried to stand my ground and fight in that room, people on the next floor would aggro, lol... ugh.

Fire does 0 damage against it.
