Returning to the hexagonal office I noticed that if moved the opulent chest there was a hatch below it (none of the guides had been mentioning this ) - the key opens that hatch.
There's nothing up in the attic. I wandered around a lot myself in my first playthrough, trying to figure out if anything important was supposed to be up there. Isn't as far as I can tell.
So, for sure the basement appears to be unfinished content, and maybe you were supposed to find something in the attic, but there's nothing there now.
BTW, in my first playthrough I literally killed Cazador by blowing him off the platform he was standing on. I didn't think that would work. The guy can turn into mist or a cloud of bats and can fly. But it worked. And I do see they patched that in later patches. Shame. I love a good exploit.
It's cazadors side project he is really into making puzzles but kept procrastinating and then you found it, so it's kinda pointless to finish now!
There's a room behind the initial altar that you see when you climb up the ladder. You can access it by entering the second room and then finding a door along the wall. There's an additional button in there. If you press it TWO TIMES, it opens a secret room with a pile of treasure. Additionally, if you break the crystal vase in there, you get a key to the catacombs.
It's a side story with more context to what kind of person Cazador is and gives a bit history to everything. IMHO, the "other person" could be a great point to continue in some future games, if any of the writers want that story to continue. But for now it's background and lore to give some more atmosphere to the place.
You can re-read it all here, if you want.[bg3.wiki]
