It's crazy how you apparently have played neither of these games yet you're willing to make such assertions.
Since EA that people are pointing out how blatant it is that the plot and the whole general arc of the game is the same.
I have even posted a comparison between the end cinematic of Mass Effect and this game, in which a certain sequence of 30 seconds is EXACTLY the same, with the same interaction between a Minflayer and a Flame compared to a soldier fighting a husk.
If you take a closer look, the "Control/Synthesis/Destroy" ending trio is also exactly the same.
I've played both and yes. Karlach is "like Wrex". Red. Uses rage. Close quarters. Close enough.
Karlach is not a chicken, though.
Tali follows the Flotila against the Geth while
Laezel follows the githyanki against the Ghaik (plus the events later on about discovering the truth)
Jack and Astarion? given power but imprisoned, but now set free and is chaotic?
Gale and Liara? scholar of science/magic? ok thats it
wait Gale and Solus! "Had to be me BOOM"
Legion and Emperor? once a hivemind attaining freedom and now fights on your side
Shadowheart and Ashley?..... a bit racist in the beginning hahahaha
Miranda was magic-user, Liara was the cleric, Tali'Zorah was theif, and Wrex was the fighting man. I think they hoped Shep players would take the fighting man subclass roll of paladin.
The krogan are warriors and barbarians.
Miranda was birth through divinity to defeat all outsiders and corrupted species part of a legion of crusaders.
Shepard died and was reborn as a paladin. With new connection with the paladin order he got resources to once again fight the demons.
The inqusition had started and people were either killed by outsiders or by the inquisition executed by the pope of the paladins.
The pope sent Miranda(the oracle) to be Shepard guide when he needed answers she would be there to guide him. Shepard would then help his sheeps home.
Shepard would be betrayed by one companion because he's Jesus and discovered he was the seed of the outsiders and would join them.
It's 2023 bro we don't just assume people's species.
Karlach is not Wrex. How you even could think to compare the two, considering their individual histories, and even their individual temperament... lol so of the mark.
Apparently, you never played Mass Effect either. The Reapers do not 'brainwash' anyone, they just kill them dependent on age requirements. I'm not going to spoiler the game, but the race that was enslaved was done for a reason, and not the ones you are suggesting.
Another wasted idea.
Shepard was an icon, and did her/their level best to win, not only for her, but her children.
BG3 does not have anything in a progeny thing except if you get the scene with Minthara pregnant, but even then you would have to be a male Tav or Dark Thingy to make that happen.
Not assuming anything but still going by the (character) design of the Krogan species as a whole. It was funny then and it still is now.
Wrex best boy, though.
I could probably make better comparisons with any other CRPG with companions though.
Karlach is really Minsc and Astarion is Yoshimo. Wyll is Anonem.
And the illithids are just blatantly copies of the mind flayers!
