Very low FPS - CPU i7 4790k
It´s like the title, I´m testing this game on some machines. This one has a 6750XT and i7 4790k with 32MB memory and the frame rate is very low, about 25fps. Any advises? I think the game is very CPU bound - maybe this CPU can´t run the game?

This game is excessively CPU bound.

Digital Foundry did a breakdown. Along with some other outlets.

The gist is that the game puts a lot of path finding on the same core. Along with a litany of other things. You can find the info on YouTube or through a Google search.

I'm kind of impressed it runs at all on a CPU nearly a decade old.

On 6700K it runs 60 FPS Ultra in 1440p. So may be it's combined parts of your PC that give less FPS.

From PCGH's CPU benchmarks

They made some tests and it seems that the 4790k runs very well (in their tests), 67.5 average fps. So, I can´t understand why my test system runs at less than half fps....

I´m doing my tests at 1080p

32MB or GB of memory? And what's the speed of the memory? (also this set up is heavily CPU bound, as the 6 series from AMD is about a year old, and the cpu is VERY old

Also running from an HDD or an SSD? (SATA ssd or nvme?)

32GB - my bad...
Running from a nvme and memory is pc3-12800(800 MHz)
Get better CPU, i7 4790 is outdated

Perhaps they accidentally benchmarked BG2 instead of BG3...

Seriously though, is this where you saw your 25 FPS? Otherwise it wouldn't be comparing apples to apples:
"sodass wir uns entschieden haben, die ersten Benchmarks im ersten kleineren Ort durchzuführen, den man im Spiel besucht - Smaragdhain"

Also consider this:
"Maximal mögliche Details im CPU-Limit, Vulkan-API"
Though I'm not sure what "Maximal mögliche Details im CPU-Limit" is supposed to mean regarding settings.

So wait...you're using DDR3 memory running at 800Mhz???

Dude...that's slow af

I don't have problems with any games and my old 4790k.
100+ FPS stable in BG3 with 2k resolution, most things on max/ultra.
My system is only a i7 4790k, 16GB RAM 2400MHz, GF RTX 2060 Super.
This game is not CPU intense. That is why it has the recommended setup of a very modest CPU.
The worse offender for this game performance is the North bridge of your motherboard and the GPU. Those are the defining factors to have it running well.
If you have the minimal CPU required, the minimal memory required but somehow can run with a good GPU and modern HDD or SSD, it has better performance than running it in a Ryzen 9 with onboard graphics in an older motherboard.

And, "old" CPU is mostly a bogus term. There are to this day Pentium grade "new" CPUs being shipped out.

I run on an i5-2500 with a 1650 Super just fine. That being said, I run on a 1080p monitor with medium settings. So I am not stressing the system at all.

I doubt very much if the issue is your CPU.

Hi, I was wondering if some of you guys noticed this problem recently, because I was playing the smoth since launch, but this week I noticed awful FPS drops, also noticed path finding of NPC being worse. Things that I havent experienced in my previous 300 hours. And wanted to know if that is due to latest updates.

your running it on a decade old cpu thats the problem
