Gale - Necromancy of Thay Quest

Yep, I'm sure it's been said but damned if I can find it.

I don't get the option to give the book to Gale after I unlock it (but not open it) with the dark amethyst. My options are to read it, throw it down, prepare to destroy it, put it away, give to Astarion.

What's the deal with this? Is it bugged? I've waited until Gale is starving for a magic artifact and still nothing,

i dont think the book is marked as consumable by gale, so that'd be why.

some generic +1 items also aren't consumeable by gale, he tends to want items with an effect of some type.
