Are there any drawbacks to killing everyone in the Zhentarim hideout?

I bought the artist and sent him to Baldurs Gate. I completed the missing shipment quest. However I want to go explore more but beyond the first room (the room with the wolves and traps) I auto engage everyone in combat for some reason). Any reason to not just kill anyone or are these folks in quests later?

I heard all Zhentarim will turn on you instantly for the rest of the game.
So it will make your job easier, they will come to you.
