PVP And Multiclass
Steam says there's going to be PVP, this is confirmed by the devs? The most I ever hear from them is CO-OP. Also will multiclass be available?

Yes there will be massive pvp 20vs20 like quake arena with power ups. As for multiclass you'll be able to multiclass 6 classes together. So you could have a bard ranger fighter who In his free time is a mage paladin and hangs around with druids.

"Steam says there's going to be PVP".

Are you sure? On my screen I only see the PvE tag in the store page, maybe you misread PvE for PvP?

Not in the Early Access as far as we know. Look in the pinned thread.

In DOS co-op could you attack another player? That would technically be pvp.

I just checked and DOS2 is tagged the same way.

There is no way and reason for this to have a pvp feature. I mean how would that even work.

Well I imagine it would be pressing the attack button on a party member in multiplayer

Yes cause thats the definition of pvp. (Claps hands slowly). Now every game with friendly fire is considered pvp.

Well, yes, considering the definition is player vs player. If you want a more serious answer, though, I'd bet my money that there's probably an arena quest for players to fight one another (black pits 3?)

Actually that I didnt think of. I completely forgot about black pits. You are right.

throw in an arena mode for multiplayer as well and thats likely the plan

I would probably look at D:OS2 for a proxy of what pvp might look like in BG3. I would expect like others have mentioned an arena mode, some arena quests, and some quests that might lead you to fight other players (e.g. you need to help an NPC and another character has a quest to kill that same NPC).

That being said, just like in D:OS2, I assume that opportunities for fighting other players will be sparse, and if you decide to kill your fellow players outside of the arena they will probably remain dead for the remainder of the campaign unless for whatever reason you decide to revive them, so not a whole lot of opportunities for pvp (i.e. don't expect some other player to come to your campaign with their own characters and attack you, be defeated, and then face them again when they decide to invade you again).

Has me thinking of the D&D novel where Drizzt has to fight in a gladiator situation, observed by the mind flayers
In D&D, PVP is never a balanced experience. Certain classes will just have a straight up advantage because they're kits lend themselves to it. In a video game, it's different, granted. But the system is 5e D&D and that inherently means that PVP will not be a balanced, or likely fun, experience.

That depends entirely on initiative and dice rolls.

Going up against a barbarian who dual classed into a fighter will be tough because he has so much health and takes so little damage while also being able to heal himself or use an action surge to attack multiple times and if they get a higher initiative than a spellcaster and can get up to that spell caster then that spellcaster is toast but if the spellcaster does better and can get them locked in a CC spell then that Barbarian is screwed.

In a way, every class is OP in their own way.
Arenas don't need to be a 1 vs 1.

D&D 5e can be fun in a 4 vs 4 situation.
