So... the emperor.
During a new playthrough i noticed that the Mindflayer who infects you looks a lot like the emperor, Baring the eyes. Hes got the same armor and the same tall neckguard. other mindflayers have them too, just not that big. Does this mean the emperor is actually the one who infects us?

No. You meet the actual Mindflayer who infected you - up to two times, in fact - in Act 1.

Nope. There is a note in Act 3 that confirms that it is the Emperor in that nautoloid [sp?]. The evolving art direction does make it a little confusing as he doesn't look the same as in the cinematic made 3 years ago.

The mindflayer who infected you is indeed the Emperor , I found gortash's diary in is safe in the counting house and it basically confirms it , at the moment of the cinematic he was already free from the the netherbrain influence due to the astral prism .

Even more reason to not trust him :P

He was already in the artifect to begin with it also explains towards the end that when he was transformed. His friend saved him and he was able to break free from the other mindfrayers. So he had full control over his own consciousness fairly early. Which was way before anyone got captured. Didn't seem like he ever even had a chance to work along side the other mindfrayers, since he was rescued shortly after his transformation.

Yup. I don't care what that note said, the dead don't lie.

It confirms he was on the ship when it left to go grab the astral prism, it doesn't confirm that he left the prism to infect you then went and jumped back into it.

The Emperor was captured and ''re-enslaved'' by Gortash before the game , Then the Nautiloid captained by the Emperor was sent by the three chosen to stole the Astral Prism from Vlaakith . He then regained his freewill a soon as he was in close proximty to the artifact . The intro cinematic begin right after this .

You can find both of these information in Gortash's safe in the counting house and in the emperor secret lair under elfsong tavern .

I never got to the point where you meet the Emperor. I always restart before getting to that point. However, the more I interacted with the Redacted, the more I started to suspect that they were this so-called "Emperor." Especially when they swapped out their armor for the robes in one cutscene. Heh.

You're also forgetting that the mind flayer that infected you just casually walks (floats?) past several dead mind flayers with no concern. Who killed those mind flayers? They were all dead before the red dragons even started attacking. It was 100% the emperor that infected you.

I must of missed it or just didn't read it.
What I wonder is, if you play the game as Lae'zel, then who the heck is getting infected in that opening cinematic? Because you see Lae'zel get infected first.
