No need to scrap your run though. You can respec your build with Withers in your camp to alter your stats if you dumped int on your rogue, or just use the magic headgear you get in the blighted village. It raises your Int to a pretty decent number. Or even just use spells that don't care about your hit roll or save DC. Utility spells and buffs work just fine with even low int. Tricksters aren't really boom-mage powerhouses anyway. You can focus on things like Friends, invisibility, mage hand and so on. They all work fine with even low int.
Hell, I KNOW D&D really well and I'm still not certain what happens if my socerer uses a spell that is both on the wizard AND sorcerer list. Does it cast off Int or Cha? I'm sure I could experiment to find out but I'm lazy. Haven't needed scroll much anyway.
The point is, don't feel bad for not knowing. This ♥♥♥♥ can be confusing sometimes.
Each class has their own spell casting modifier, every spell cast by that class will use whatever their spell casting modifier is. The one exception to this rule is if you're using an item or weapon that has a spell baked into it you can cast "X" amount of times per day.
Generally when using those items, the spell DC will be listed.
So the spell casting modifiers are Charisma, Int, and Wisdom
Charisma = Bard, Warlock, Sorc
Wisdom = Druid, Ranger, Cleric, Monk
Int = Wizard, Eldrich Knight, Arcane Trickster
Now, say you multi class into Sorc/Cleric. If you're casting a cleric spell, you will be using your wisdom modifier. If you're casting a sorc spell, you will be using charisma.
I get that you're trying to help and thank you, but I knew this.
My confusion was in a narrow case regarding scrolls. If I am a sorcerer and cast say... burning hands from a scroll. Does it cast off of Int or Cha? Because burning hands is a spell both classes can use. I would THINK it uses Cha in that case since it's a spell sorcerers can use but I've never bothered to test it.
I know if my sorcerer uses say... Guiding Bolt that is will cast using Wis, because the only classes that can get Guiding Bolt cast with Wisdom.
