Classes with proficiency in a stat?
I read and hear in videos "pick this class for proficiency in constitution"

But where does it say this? I can not see anywhere on in the game/UI where it says that Fighter gives proficiency in constitution for example, where are people getting this from? Why cant I see it? Am I blind? Haha help! :D

They're probably referring to proficiency in saving throws.

Proficiency is not the correct term.
You've a main stat (with the *) and proficiencies in weapons, armor, substats, ...

Definitely talking about the saving throws.

In a nutshell, it's useless to put +intel on a rogue using +dexterity to make damage.
And you'll encounter debuffs if you're using heavy armor or heavy weapons without the proficiency to use them. You may decide to give proficiency through leveling.
So it's possible to make a heavy armor mage if you give him heavy armor proficiency.
His main stat will always be intel.

Okay people are saying proficiency in constitution saving throws, why does fighter have that and where does it say so?

Why would fighter have a better saving throw in constitution than a wizard if their constitution number is set at the same number?

Each class is proficient in two saving throws. Fighters are proficient in STR and CON saving throws for example. You can see this on the character screen but I just know them offhand from my 5e books.

I just found it, you actually have to mouse over the stats in the stat screen to see it, this is explained nowhere in game. Thats very bad for people new to Dnd.

You'll hear no argument from me about how little the game explains its 5e systems to players.

Yeah. I love the game but the D&D rules... even in 5th ed which is one of the LEAST complicated versions of the ruleset... are pretty tricky to learn if you're not familiar with TTRPGS.

Larian tried, and probably didn't want to bog the game down in endless tutorials but they did come up a little short. I wouldn't blame anyone who couldn't get into the game because of the learning curve.

It's a great game and well worth putting in the time to learn, I would say... but I definitely get this complaint. Unlike the dozens of threads complaining about non-issues, this one has some merit.

Yeah. What's mostly missing imo is the ruleset along the journal quests and tutorials.
I imagine people would have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on these forums if the UI was filled with everything all over the place...
