I don't understand cleric.
They seem absolutely useless.

The can buff worse than a sorcerer, that can twin cast haste or hold person.

They have weaker damage spells that Sorcerers/Warlocks for AoE and worse single target than Martials.

And healing is worthless, if i play good enough i don't heal ANY heal, just usepots KEKW.

More than half the classes suffer from absolutely useless syndrome, but man, cleric just rubs me the wrong way!

Tempest has no LIGHTNING BOLT, has that worthless Call Lightning concentration bullcrap.

What item gives the bless?
You can buy a ring from Volo, that, when you heal someone, that someone will receive Bless for 2 turns. Zevlor has gloves, that, when you heal someone, it will apply Blade Ward. Both items you can get in less than an hour. Later in Act 3 you can buy a statue from a certain npc that will give you perma Bless
What NPC gives perma blessed ? I haven’t found such thing yet

Stack items that give radiant orb and clerics deal massive debuffs. I'm giving enemies -6 to attack rolls with just one hit and it also gives -3 to everything in the AOE.

Best way is to cast spirit guardian and run into a crowd of enemies, it totally destroys all of their attack rolls.
What items you using to give -6?

Coruscation Ring (cleric needs to be illuminated, so cast light on them, or wield blood of lathander for a melee version)
Luminous Armour
Luminous Gloves
Callous Glow Ring (this just adds +2 damage to anything that is illuminated)

Although I just did some testing - that normally only applies 4 stacks of radiating orb per hit.
It applies 6 stacks of radiant orb if you also have the radiant damage buff from the temple of lathander - I guess the extra radiant damage is calculated separately. It's kind of an exploit.

Either way, pretty broken. Haste Shadowheart, have her cast spirit guardians and then guiding bolt. Both hits will also give radiant orb to naything within 3 meters. Do that two turns in a row and whatever you're fighting is totally crippled

You could probably make a real powerful fighter/cleric build around this to take full advantage of spirit guardians.. Unfortunately there aren't many good AOE radiant spells - It would be totally ridiculous if you could tag a group with a large aoe spell every turn.

Ahhh I missed it for this run through. Oh well. Thanks for the info.
It's random though, sometimes the Goblin merchant will sell it for example.
I buy it from Volo when he's at the Grove in every playthrough. I don't think I've seen it not be in his inventory.

My shadowhearth who is a cleric/ sorcerer one shotted the Red dragon at the final battle, one shotted Cazador, Casually one shotted Serovok before he could take an action…

Meantime she keeps the team bugged with haste and heals.

One of my most powerful characters , always have her on every playthrough

Learn the class, learn to multi class and learn to play in general
Yeah, sure you did.

No problem, have fun with it! and like I said in my edit, this build is probably best as fighter/cleric or anything melee/cleric so you can keep slamming spirit guardians every turn.

^^^ Honestly this. I forgot about spirit guardians and how much you can cheese with it.

Also at level 10, you can use the divine favour, or whatever it's called, to get a mace. That weapon's ability is small heal, with decent aoe, that automatically goes off every turn, for 10 turns. Free bless and blade ward for everyone :lunar2019coolpig:.

Crazy idea. Get 2 hirelings. Respect them to Cleric.

Use their Divine Favours to get 2 maces.

Equip both maces to STR based dual wielding martial class.

There you go, good use for clerics! :D

Also, totally going to have to try this!

Damn, just read, it can only be equipped in the main hand. Larian one step ahead of me!

I have Shadowheart as my main and she's a beast, high AC, high conc, ruthless against undead/shadows. The heals are what they are, it's not like potions are great. If you aren't min/maxing like some weirdo I'm not sure how you play the game without some sort of healer as you aren't going to have enough potions/innate healing.
TLDR, crits happen, need healer.

My Cleric is a Light domain. Throwing the ocassional heals and using death ward on friendlies, in between making judicious use of their fire spells. But my two red dragon sorcerers steals the lightshow.

I guess you are considering only the combat aspect of the game. The combat is just one part. This is a roleplay game, thus based on your class you may get different dialogue options. Moreover, as a cleric you get Wisdom as main stat, which influence many important roleplay rolls.

Yes, Wisdom is extremely heavilly used for dlalogue checks, which favors Clerics, Druids and Monks.

I use cleric mainly for melee with bonus action heals. This allows other characters to spend their bonus actions on more attacks. Other spells I only use in specific situations. Clerics do have some powerful spells later on.
The Former Sep 13, 2023 @ 5:03am
The strength of the Cleric is that they cast while tanking. Their strength isn't their raw healing power, nor their raw casting power, it's their ability to absorb damage while casting. Only two classes can cast while having innately highish AC, and Paladin is more fighter than caster. Clerics get spell slots on pace with other casters, but are able to hold their own up close. (War Caster is almost a must, though.) And since they're Wisdom casters, they also have a high resistance to many spell effects, making them good anti-mages.

Also, don't misjudge Call Lightning. It may be "Concentration bullcrap", but ten free casts of a 3d10-damage AOE spell is no joke.
