Will Ogre horn work here?
Yes, but I'm not sure it will guarantee victory, same for the beholder pokeball.
Thats fine if they can soak up a few hits. Since Gith are warriors, they should be countered by spells from the party. If you can do this after the Forge you might be level 6.
But something tells me it isn't about immersion, it is about not knowing how to properly play an RPG and just want to fight everything
So. Instead - take some ranged characters for it, toggle group mode, destroy the ladders, position your ranged characters there, stack some boxes on the sides of the bridge to obscure / block melee routes, maybe add some grease bottles. That way you'll be shooting fish in the barrel for quite some time.
And of course, send the character that's most likely to survive to trigger the dialogue. You don't have to go all the way in, I think it will trigger the scene while you're still on the middle left ledge from the bridge scaffolding. So that "dialogue" character will still have an edge.
Finally - this fight is stacked against you so there's no shame in preparing. It's absolutely doable to get level 5 before doing it. Then your melees will have equal footing with the enemies and get 2 attacks. Lae'zel then can likely one-shot some of the peskiest enemies with her action surge.
As for bad rolls - I guess you'll have to reload some number of times, before the initiative lands in your favor. But life is pain.
P.S. If this one is hard for you - wait till you get to the Creche. That one is way harder even if you do the Monastery little riddle + get the legendary weapon from it.
These Githyanki are there to block you leaving Act 1 too soon. And they are pretty good at it.
But you can even talk then down ( no fighting ) or sneak past them when you can cast or drink invisibility. That is pretty useless as the coming fights in the next map will be very hard on you as well, as these are higher level then you, and you should not be there ( yet )
When you did all the quests in the Druid map ( Goblin camp, Aunti Ethels grotto's, Moonhaven, THE ENTIRETY OF THE UNDERDARK and THE GRYM FORGE !!! then you will be level 5-ish and well equipped, and can consider leaving Act 1.
Then that 4 attack Githyanki fighter hits you for 3 dmg per strike ( if she does not miss ) and you return 20+ dmg per strike back, being able to attack 2-3 times yourself.
I explained that as well.....but what is the purpose of that when in the next map the enemies are all deadly level to you ?
Maybe you can pull that off on the easiest difficulties. But act 3 will be VERY empty and when you skip and cutoff quest lines ( you will leaving act 1, and are warned about that !!! ) all these NPC will never appear in Baldurs gate city.
And i guess will make for another complainer the game sucks, bacause he messed up skipping about 70 % of the games content but doesnt even know it.
Eh? They most definetly are a pathing tool from games development point of view. They mean to discourage most players from following this path to not skip on tons of content just to end up in act 2 area with much stronger enemies that will make new players uninstall.
Doesn't mean You cannot past them as game is allowing players a lot of freedom, but most non-veteran players will just go back or go and cry on forum, while veterans will know whats up and clear the map first to not miss out on stuff.
It's worse when you meet the gith monks and they start killing your characters from full health in 1 turn because they get a thousand attacks
Otherwise, you can win practically every difficult fight by using haste, potion, scroll spells, it doesn't matter.
the hardest one is the fighter with the nice 2h sword, just disarm her, then the fight is only half as hard.
