In BG3, they plan to fix this by treating your custom character as if it were an origin character, with its origin being your status as a Baldurian.
In other words, in an effort to make playing a custom character more appealing, they’re sacrificing your choice of being a vampire in exchange for the story revolving around your connection to the city of Baldur’s Gate.
Like vampire or noble or city guard.
Still, it would be difficult, I’d imagine. We’re talking 8+ origin characters, plus 8 additional voice actors at least, 4 male and 4 female.
If they have it in the budget to get even more nitty gritty with custom origin, I say go for it.
In BG2 Hexxat had to wear the cloak of dragomir
Voice actors are easy to hire with the money they have, but companies are inefficient and decisions are made by people.
A person is smart, people are dumb panicky animals.
