Next thing - wyvern poison. Sneak atack with Astarion with poisoned crossbow. It can take over half it's HP in a single atack.
To finish it off, magic can also wreak it. Just hurl thunder chromatic orbs or shoot fire rays at it with Gale. Better still if YOU are a sorcerer with Quicken Spell and speed potion in your pocket. You will demolish the poor spider in a single turn.
This is really old one i did back when... but should still work. You don't really need anything special.
oh wait looks like i was using https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Vision+of+the+Absolute
i guess now you can use shield with it so it's even better. and use fire dip instead of posion cos they are immune to poison. And no clue why i was swaping weapons mid combat lol probably forgot it takes your action point.
And you know, things like burning hands or alchemical fire clear them out well enough.
Alternatively Shadowheart in a scale armor +1 with shield with +2 AC, and Shield of Faith buff can hold them off long enough. If you want other character to focus on bigger spiders.
Sigh.
Invisible imp is a great idea tho, will try that. Let's hope I had bad luck and she uses her webs again!
Shove her into the Undersnark.
Attack her with the Vision of the Absolute.
Use Shatter on both her and the spiderlings at the same time. Also, Burning Hands (any AoE spell really).
When all else fails, stealth cheese.
There are a couple poison resistance potions you can pick up in Act1. You can also cast protection from poison. Nothing wrong with buffing up a little for the fight.
Bless, aid, resistance cantrip can help as well.
Fight from the upper level.
-Keep your party back. Rogue stealth and cast firebolt cantrip. Wiped out one set of the spiderlings and then matriarch attacked. Since your rogue was stealthed, the rest of the party isn't in combat. Use them to focus on Matriarch during their surprise round.
-Keep your rogue and casters back. Your fighter/clerics should be armored and buffed. Rogue and caster can stealth with ease.
-The key is good initiative roll and destroying the web bridge when she is on it. Focus fire on her until you finish her off. Kill her first. Rest of the fight is a cake walk.
I found this fight to be incredibly easy once I figured out taking out the web bridges.
my next playthrough i got OBLITERATED. it was BRUTAL. i fell through the webb. i misclicked. i burned my team mates. i got swarmed to death. it was just all kinds of bad, everything that could go wrong did because i went in overconfident after how well i handled it my first time.
in my most recent playthrough, im not sure how, but i one hit killed it by knocking it off the web to its death. i dont think you get any exp for doing that, and no loot, but you can still loot the gem you came there for. and if you stealthed it you wont have to fight the stupid spiderlings.
luckily it only has 1 action so its not that bad if you're above level 1. preferably level 3 so you have 2nd level spells is a big help.
