How to manually remove (own) area effects?
Is there a way to forcibly remove own area effects (like Grease) in and out of combat?

I believe there's a little X button on the character's profile picture allowing you to drop concentration on a spell.
If it's a concentration based spell, you can end it voluntarily (there should be a small 'x' on your portrait that allows you to do this).

If the effect is immediate and permanent, which I believe Grease is, then it can only be removed by replacing it with a different effect, such as Create Water.

Damn, this is literally the first time I've ever noticed that Grease isn't a concentration spell like other similar spells. Shows how often it gets cast in my games.

yep that's why Grease is so good...especially cos you can lose the whole turn. IF you know how to trick AI into walking into it. They would normally rather die then walk into it.

Jesus that sucks big time. I have to wait ages to get into a room because my ground spells still linger in bottleneck places. (because enemies have to get thru there. duh.)
Plus no way to remove in combat except wasting precious spell slots / actions to cast it anew.

You can get rid of grease (or entangling vines) by setting fire to them.
There is also a staff called Rain Dancer, you can buy it from the Druid trader, once per short rest you can use it to cast create water for free, this can wash away some things like pools of poison or acid (or put out fires), but you need to be careful as when you stand in water and use electricity, as it can shock the water and conduct it to everyone standing in the water, although you can use this to your advantage.
