Pointless to make such a mode.
Me? No Iron Man mode for me. If I fail an encounter, I will backtrack.
Others? I know they love the challenge and would love to have proof of doing it. (There are most likely ways to get around the mod limitations with an Iron Man mode, but that'll be the shame the cheating player will have to live with.)
So, here's hoping they already thought of the Iron Man mode for all those iron people out there.
It would be nice if they'd add Adventuring Day rule so you can only long rest every 24 hours. I'm sure it won't happen since there is no day/night cycle.
Iron man mode should implement D&D raw rules.
But yes, you live with your dice roll. Only one save. No going back. I would be hugely in favor of this mode.
There is personal satisfaction that comes with completing a self-assigned challenge, but many people derive a greater sense of satisfaction from completing a challenge assigned by someone else. Moreover, knowing others will be trying to overcome that same challenge as well lets you engage in a shared experience. This is not a hard concept to understand; shared experience is the foundation of gaming communities, like the one you are participating in right now. Achievements wouldn't exist in every game if they didn't add to one's experience. If they don't "work" for you, that's fine, but don't act like they're a ridiculous concept.
I mean, you kind of already do only long rest once every [in game] 24 hours, with the way they work day and night in bg3. (That is to say, every long rest is a night)
What else could I mean? I mean I would like the game to have an iron man mode at release, even in the 72 hour early Act 1 that carries over.
What other explanation for "starts with an iron man mode" can you think of?
