BG3 actually simplifies this a lot by only tying it to proficiency, since what components spells have isn't really something the game tracks.
Also fair point. Wait until level 4 and pick up weapon expert, then grab some two-handed weapon proficiency. Did that with my melee warlock.
For RP purposes. I wanted to use a 2H sword and be sort of like a battlemage type thing.
So find a way to get the proficiency - Dwarfs get it, a feat gives 4x weapon proficiencies, and later you'll be able to multiclass to get weapon profs.
You can use Githyanki for that, quite easily. The only drawback is that, well if you choose male, you'll look like the Grinch who stole Christmas.
Yeah that's what i'm doing now and my god is that the most pathetic looking character i've ever seen.
I'm trying to figure out the damage to sleeping targets now. 1d8+3 and I got a 5 and then a 6. If i rolled a 1 * 2 = 2 + 3 = 5... but 2 * 2 = 4+3 = 7?
I think they're using the same system to calculate damage as they did in DOS2. In which it rarely made sense.
It's almost happening every single time. I crit while they're asleep... when i can even get a hit on them because somehow every NPC in the game knows to immediately shove their sleeping comrades...
Feel free to multiclass into Fighter to grab those proficiencies when the game fully releases.
