The most irritating thing imaginable
Everybody else is dead. The only enemy left is a goblin archer with 1 HP.

Astarion attacks. 60% chance to hit. MISS.
Shadowheart attacks. 65% chance to hit. MISS.
Wyll attacks with eldritch blast. MISS.
Next combat round. Astarion hides and uses sneak attack. 90% chance to hit. MISS.
Lae'zel uses her bow. 60% chance to hit. MISS.
Eventually I just decide sod this, and have Shadowheart use a Guiding Bolt. MISS.

No joke, it legitimately took 4 FREAKING ROUNDS to take out this one goblin who just refused to die. It was borderline comical.

Hey, at least the goblin wasn't KOing your guys one-by-one as you missed 90% hits.

They use the same system from Divinity 2. The % chance to his is meaningless. I've missed multiple attacks in a row at 95% to hit. Really wish they would have found a way to improve on their combat rolling, but instead they just copy and pasted Divinity 2.

That is entirely false.

Divinity 2 had a baseline 95%-100% to-hit chance before modifiers, and even the physical folks at a base 95% would socket a +%hit gem in their necklace to push into 100% if they knew what they were doing. DOS2's system is built around having near-certainty of what your actions will do when you choose to do them. BG3 actually involves random chance in combat, and bad rolls happen.

hmmm Shadowheart just might be strong enough to bodyslam a goblin. That's an easy 1-2 non-savable damage. :O

Random chance can be a ***** sometimes, it can happen. It's why these games are about trying to swing things more in your favor to prevent situations like that.

I think I can imagine more irritable situations.

You are either stupid or a troll. Divinity has 100% chance to hit unless character has a dodge value or attacker is blind.
DnD usses AC and rolls of D20 + mods.

Karmic dice enabled?

OP just described so many early encounters in so many DnD campaigns. I'd say this is working as intended.

If I can't get better I just go for it. I hit on on 20-30% even more satisfying when it crits. I really don't care about the hit chance anymore unless it's absolutely dismal xD

It's almost like Divinity Combat was completly homebrewed and this is 5E

Congratulations on finding the hidden boss. I'm impressed you beat him as fast as that. :D

Y'know... come to think of it... why didn't I just shove the stubborn bastard off a ledge and be done with it?

Considering how many times i missed with 95% in DoS2 this seems completely normal. Yep.

Well I didn't know if there was a ledge but shoving still has a miss chance, like the attacks. But if you bodyslam the goblin, no roll neccessary. "improvised weapon" click on goblin> attack ground with goblin.
