This game plays better if you kill all your companions...
....Ive found that the most competent way to play this "d&d inspired" game, is alone.

The companions are unlikable garbage and their individual stories are basic boring garbage.

What is good however, is how the game is actually pretty easy to solo. At least what we have.
dunno how full release will be, but if it stays similar to how it is now, i suspect solo will be the way i play.
I did try the 4 party of customs a few times. Which i enjoy. But solo feels ....nice.

Solo feels...nice, huh? I occasionally go solo, but usually prefer a companion. To each his own.
Solo is fun purely for the "I don't have to answer to anyone" aspect. Just picking your way through the game however you want without any pushback from the peanut gallery.

I've also considered playing "solo" by keeping companions at camp, to talk to, but exploring and finishing combat on my own.

There's currently a trick that lets you use camp companions to cast concentration buffs on your character and then leave them at camp so that their concentratuon can't be broken. You could use this, if Larian doesn't fix it, to jack up a single character to become a one woman army.
I very much like to play solo, that is what I plan on doing my first playthrough along with whatever the hardest difficulty is called, although it has nothing to do with the rest of your opinion. I just find it tactical and fun.
You know that's a great idea. The companions do ruin it a bit with their perpetual moaning's and wokisum.
Sounds like a subjective opinion.
Writing isn't larians strong suit but gameplay and flexibility for choices covers that, solo play or custom group
Solo? No inspiration, do cutscenes, no dialogues, less story?

Your choice bro.
Id play with 6 (4 will do) party members if only to get the story of as many companions as possible xD THen maybe solo after 1st playthrough

I havn't seen any of this 'wokisum' you're talking about. Whatever that even means.

Probably because there is a black guy in the game.
