Doesn't matter, there's a TON of subclasses and they only promised PHB ones.

Of course, they COULD do that as a nice surprise (if nything, the "blade of frontiers" would make more sense as an Hexblade because of his bond to his weapon), but this is what we know so far.

I hope so. The Pact of the Blade pairs especially well with this Warlock type. And less so with the standard 3 patron options in Players Handbook. Assuming they'll include all pact boons, it would be great to have that level of customization.

I'm not sure if it's THAT much more popular than other warlocks. It's extremely popular as a multiclass dip for other charisma-scaling classes, due to how frontloaded the kit is, but its playstyle departs pretty heavily from the classic Eldritch Blast-centric spellcaster that warlocks typically are.

I've said it before... the games greatest weakness is lack of Subclasses... which may make or break it for some people. But thankfully modders will come to the rescue, i expect the modding scene to be huge.

I second this sentiment. Hexblade is excellent... for multiclassing. As a stand alone gish class, the blade singer does it better. And its not better than an arcane trickster or paladin for a 'melee fighter that uses some magic'. If I'm being forced to play a no multiclass warlock, I'd consider other subclasses first. Fiend is an OG thats reliable. Genie and Undead are stellar stand alone 'Warlock' subclasses. Hexblade on its own feels like the weapon aspects get in the way of me wanting to be a proper Warlock.

Unless the mod is implementing them differently, those spells are pretty so-so for hexblade. They're only incrementally stronger than normal attacks in levels 1-4, and at level 5 you're better off taking Thirsting Blade and attacking twice per round, which shouldn't work with the cantrips in question.

You're absolutely correct. I was simply noting the mods already extant state, not making a judgement call on the efficacy.

Besides, we all know the blade cantrips are for rogues. Shame BG3 doesn't appear to be implementing sneak attack all that well.

I played it. Is there any special effect? No, there is not. There is maybe a green light source here or there, but I'm comparing to the game's original special effects. And again, this is not criticism to the modders, it's just having reasonable expectations.

Would be nice, but likewise, don't see it happening officially.

Wyll also doesn't really work as hexblade, he has a bond with Mizora, not a cursed sentient weapon. Its a patron, not a pact.
