How much of Act 1 do we get to play? I don't want to spoil myself
I love DOS and DOS2 and I know I want to play this and I can't wait.

Literally, I can't wait. I want to play this game NOW. However, I don't want to spoil myself for too much of the game. I want to play around with some classes and get a feel for the early game and what the classes feel like so that on release I know what I want to play.

In terms of Dos2, how much of the game have we been given? The equivalent of getting to fort joy and doing some side quests? Breaking out of Fort Joy? Getting up to Alexander? The entirety of Act 1?

I don't want to get early access if people are under the impression that they have been spoiled for a significant amount, but if we just get a tutorial and some introductory quests that'd be perfect.

What's the situation? I really want to play around with the combat and try things out but I don't want to ruin the mystery of full release! Thanks!

like 3/4 of act one is available, no reason to play EA at this point, just wait for the realease. EA wont update anymore. since its almost act 1 available, youll ruin almost 1/3 of the game by playing the EA.

Allegedly we've got 'Fort Joy' but not 'ALL of Fort Joy', there are areas of Act I we will not be able to access until the full game launches on August 31st, supposedly due to how important said location will be to the story. Or August 28th if you've pre-ordered the game, then you can play all of Act I unrestricted. Only Act I though, then you can continue into Act II on the 31st.

yeah maybe I should just be patient.. I'm just really having a tough time mentally and with it being the Easter holiday's I thought that this would really give me some enjoyment.. but I guess waiting will simply be more fun..

I play like 1-2 hours with different characters. Just trying to get a sense what character I'd want to actually bring through the first campaign, what companions I like most, etc

I can tell you this right now:
Playing the EA hasn't slaked my thrist for the full game, only amplified it. LIke a sip of water in a desert. Believe me, you wanna wait.
Especially now with the official launch being as close as it is.

At the moment: we are around 3/4 -ish of ACT 1 - this seems to be the speculation, I haven't found anything that confirms exactly how long ACT1 is. Though it's time frame varies depending on how much of everything you do and which routes you take.

I'm just hoping they add in "wilderness" tiles between locations. Similar to BG1 / BG2 you had areas that were interconnected by open areas you could explore (basically filler content)

If they just kick us from one location to another it will be quite disappointing. Also wandering monster encounters when "fast travelling".

"You have been waylaid and must defend yourself!"
Those were always fun.

This is hoping the game isn't simply a linear hallway.

As mentioned above about 3/4 of act 1

Act 2 will be significantly larger than act 1, I’d assume around 1/10 of the game is available (maybe less).

I’d get it and play it. I don’t think you’ll spoil anything - it really only scratches the surface of the story, and it’ll give you a good idea of what class you want to play, and how to build your character.

If you’re like me, if you go in blind you’ll end up restarting 2-3 times before finishing the game because you REALLY wanted to do something different (play a different class, spec a different way) that you weren’t familiar with when you were learning the ropes.

I have this feeling none of that will be a thing.

I have a feeling that we only have about 1/3 of act 1 from the map available when you try to leave the area. The markers on the right side of the map are areas we have available above ground in the early access game.

I read somewhere from datamined information that act 1 doesn't end till sometime after you reach the city of BG. Moonrise tower is somewhere in the middle of that map so I think we have a long way to see how much we actually have in act 1.

You're all tempting me.. aaaa

I know I'll play the game multiple times anyway, but my first playthrough will be with friends (maybe) and so I want the first time 95% of the world to be with them. I don't care about the tutorial or the first conversations with NPCs but not too much more than that!

I think I probably should just wait..

Also the devs said that in the final release, the 1st act will be refreshed with more content than we have now. With different encounters etc. I would suggest starting a month before, that would easily be about right so you don't get "bored" of the content before the release drop.
Varies from person to person.

I decided to check out your profile to try to sell you on something else to help you wait, and it almost didn't work since you've already played all the best stuff I'd recommend!

Then I realized you'd played Dishonored 1 and 2 but not Prey. So I'm gonna suggest you play Prey if you want some enjoyment for Easter.
