It isn't supposed to help new players. It's supposed to placate all the people with biased recognition of the RNG by forcing balanced rolls with minimal streaks. Which of course means sometimes you will be doomed to roll poorly because you've been rolling too well lately, and vice versa.
Oh? Well, if they did I certainly wouldn't know.
The less you think about it the better the game feels to me at least.
but yeah sure people can always turn it off. If it makes you feel better...
i did it as well noramlly i always forget to turn it off but one time i did get this funny feeling. When i crited few times in a row not sure how many times it was but it was a lot and the game is too easy as is. THere are posts out there that say karmic dice mean you get liek gazillion more damage if that's true it would be the new hard mode l apparently one guy recorded 2k of rolls if you belive him... talk about paranoid.
classic case of the karmic dice, or could just be bad luck who actually knows what passes for rng when it comes to the dice's programming
Kind of depends on the streak that activated the change for the dice rolls. For the people that prefer it, they're welcome to it and I wish them well as a result. I remember the threads where people were saying the rng was rigged against them, which is what created the karmic dice in the first place.
The issue I have with the bad streaks, which is based on the luck of the roll, rather then the skill of the char, is it takes luck as a major factor. Not saying it should never happen, but 3 times in a roll? Such as a melee char, with high armor rating and other damage reducing factors, should offset any 3 times in a roll crit rolls from a enemy. Or as a min, should be very, very rare.
As is stands now, you can easily see some situations the dice appear to be rigged. :p Ether in favor of the player or against them.
Turning on Karmic dice did help some with those unlucky streaks from my experience. But it's not perfect by any means.
True, it also stops the lucky streaks.
Sounds like it is working as intended. I hate luck playing such a big factor in a game. Even tho, with Karmic dice on, I have not noticed a reduction in lucky streaks. But certainly a reduction of unlucky streaks. Enough I will keep it on, unless they change it for the worse.
I would rather have good lucky streaks any day then bad lucky streaks. lol
Suppisedly it's weighted in the player's flavor.
I try not to believe people just saying things unless they have some genuine evidence they can use to back up said claims. Even people who THINK they are correct sometimes have no idea what they are talking about.
In her Teahouse or on the road before there?
Karmic Dice should be left off for at least one pretty good reason: it nerfs your skill rolls.
There are a ton of DC15+ checks in the game, and if you have Karmic Dice on it will tend towards the average I.E. 10 meaning you will just about never pass a more difficult check in enough inspiration points for it to matter.
Perversely, the people who want to easymode the combat end up getting railed out of combat and not in a fun way.
