They should integrate the Fantastical Multiverse mod 5e races into the base game
https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/215

https://www.dndbeyond.com/races

Edit:No it does not need to be all the races that are shown off in the mod,They should just integrate the 5e playable races since they are using the 5e rule set in baldurs gate 3.
for example the bugbear, goblins & minotaurs. Which i would be willing to pay for them if they were ever to be made official in say a race pack. Which yes i'm aware of that they would have to write more dialogue for npcs to react to your race,Which is fine. i have no set date for when they should integrate the mod, If they didn't feel like doing it in house.

So here are my reason why i would like this great mod to be integrated,Granted not all the races in the mod should be integrated for example the final fantasy races & it's home brewed stuff.
What i'm on about is the goblins, minotaurs, ogreshs & other races that are already in the game or races that are in d&d like the genasi.

1.The opening cinematic never shows you being abducted & you are abducted even before the ship shows up to the city to start mass abducting citizens. So right there is a opening.

2.Most of the races share the same body types of the current playable races,So that allows the humanoid modded creatures to use the armor & weapons easily. Even the minotaur can get new outfits but due note that currently it only works with barbarian armor(from what i'm aware) but honestly if they hired the modder,I'm sure he would be able to get the armors to fit properly on anyone.

3.It gives the player more quality options without them needing to do much work unless they want to write something about the players race. It just spices it up & allows players who are sick & tired of playing the same basic races that we played thousands of times. Like the only game where i played a "minotaur" is wow,wow has it's faults but they have a decent selection of playable races that i don't see any other games replicate.

4.From what i'm aware the mc doesn't actually speak & the game has a narrator which works well with the mod & could open more jobs for voice actors. Be it new ones or the current ones they have used for the game. Example you play a goblin so you get a goblin narrator. Granted it's not needed but could be fun.

5.Speaking of getting people paid,As i said in #2 they could hire the modder or just outright buy the mod for a small fee & a shout out. Why would they pay for a mod of their own game? Larian studios would get great pr & they could even sell us a even more polished version. Granted they could do a split where it's like they 80% of the profits & the modder gets 20%,Hell i know shouting out the modder officially would boost his brand so they probably wouldn't even need to pay him. Granted idk how much money he makes off of donations but a official shout out from the devs would boost it.

6.Character size won't matter so they don't need to change the pod sizes from the opening because we don't see our character until we get to play & the camera stays the same for what ever race you pick from halfling to high elf. So that's another thing the devs would not have to worry about. So it would be fine playing a minotaur or ogresh

Well, when one looks at the races and classes that were added, and the order in which they were added, it seems obvious that Larian has access to the results of the races/classes survey done by WOTC years ago. It seems that Larian is adding stuff based off popularity.

The number of folks that use the non-tolkienesque races is vanishingly small, though Half-Orc and Dragonborn did place on list at very small partial percentages. It's just the nature of the beast when adding to the game based on known resources available to do so.

I'm surprised that Drow and Githyanki made it in, but I bet Larian makes heavy use of those races in BG3.

Ah i was not aware they did a poll,I'll look up the most recent one & compare it to older polls to see if there will be any potential races for me to enjoy later on in this games life.

Yeeeeeah i feel you,It's a shame. I prefer monstrous characters but have to always play the normal 3,human,smaller human & slightly taller human with pointy ears. Mind you i love dwarves & dark elves(mainly the warhammer fantasy dark elves)

I do enjoy dragonborn due to it being something different.

They've done a great deal of work on Goblins already. It may be the most likely addition of a monstrous race, if they're willing to do the extra work needed to make it mesh with the starting area.

I would love to play a goblin, a goblin necromancer is my 2nd pick.
The mod covers goblins & they can wear all the armor sets but it would be nice to have them officially so i wouldn't have to worry about the mod author no longer working on said mod.

Like i feel like ogres should also be a playable race officially since they have both genders portrayed in the game & they look amazing, granted all the models looking pretty good from what i've seen.

I also wouldn't mind monstrous companions, honestly just being able to have a whole monster party would make me delighted. ogre,goblin/gnoll,bugbear & a hag would be ideal for me if i couldn't have a living minotaur.

You do realise if they did that your only have people whinging about them stealing the mod, like they do in just about every other game that's done it. In fact the only time it's not happened was with Cities Skylines, who flat out said it wasnt theirs and the money would go to the modders (and bethesda of course, but we dont talk about them)

#5 goes into that & somewhere on page 1 i bring up the bethesda point & Larian studios has been pretty cool,So i can see them do something like that

Regardless of if they should or shouldn't, they 100% certainly will not. Considering that less than 13k people have even downloaded that mod out of millions of purchases, I'm not sure I'd hold my breath.

That said, I believe you are shamelessly trying to shill for a mod (perhaps you are the author?) but this is perhaps not the best place to advertise.

Guess you have to be sneaky about it to avoid being banned, so there is that.

1.Then it will be 13k players that wouldn't have to worry about the mod author ever getting bored of doing it.

2.Sure you can say i'm shilling for the mod because i'm tired of playing the basic b*tch races.

2.5.No i am not the author,I do not care to learn how to mod but i really like the idea of the mod. I'm not the one running around on a secondary lvl0 steam account being sneaky :P

3.Why would they get banned & from what? Everyone knows modders can get donations from their works

As for point one, who cares? Honestly.

As for point three, it's actually against the Steam rules to advertise on Steam forums.

The line is blurry on what is and isn't an advertisement, but since you're making a patently absurd ask here the more likely scenario is you are plugging this mod so more people download it. That is what advertising is literally for, so personally I think that's exactly what's happening here.

It's a much more generous interpretation than just assuming you're a child, I think.

Ok you're just here to be a troll,That came in with nothing but bad faith.
"who cares" the 13k people who enjoy the mod,Utterly stupid remark from you.
Sure if you want to stretch it,I am advertising a mod i really like.

To your last stupid point of me being a child for giving my thoughts on why i would like to see this mod integrated to the game,Don't care you are clearly a troll that wants to try to start something with your sub account. So i'm done with you.

There will be mods for just about everything that's not in the PHB.

Which yeah i can see it happen but they are using 5e for bg3 which the races i'm asking for like goblin, bugbear, minotaur, gnolls are playable races in 5e.
So all the races i would want to play as are already in the game, already a playable race in the phb of 5e. I'm just saying even if they only wanted to do a handful of races from the mod they go "hey send us the code & we'll shout you out" cuts down the work time for them by a lil bit(they would have to add dialogue for the npcs on your race choice) & the modder gets some recognition or they can do it the Bethesda way & pay him a little bit for some work.
Yes i'm willing to pay for this if they wanted to make it official if they ever decide to do it.

There are other races i wouldn't mind being added that are also 5e playable races, lizardfolk, orc, kenku, centaur(idk how that would work with the cells though) & aarakocra

I understand, there are other races I want to play too, like Goliath and Tabaxi, but as others have pointed out there's more to adding another race than just a model and some animations. The dialog trees would have to be expanded as well.

Larian has barely promised us the content in the PHB. Release won't have more than that, and hopefully it will have all of it.

The only way we're getting anything else is DLC post-release or mods. Of the two mods are the most likely.

Yeah that point of dialog tree for the races was pointed out to me & i fully agree with it as i said in my last post.

Yeah,I can't wait for the game to release.

Which i would be fine with paying for them dropping race packs, I only worry that modders will get bored of the mod they are working on that i like or for some reason be unable to work on it. That's my main reason why i would like to see it integrated.
I love playing as a monstrous character & having a full monster party. So as you said we can hope they will add in all the 5e playable races

Leave it for the modder fanbois.

Variety.
No he hasn't done Aarakocra yet but so far the most beastly thing he has is a playable minotaur & the Kuo-toa,He keeps adding stuff to the list. like he has Leszi,Balverines & gnolls on the list for a few examples

With what's available in EA plus whatever PHB races will get added when the game comes out of EA, there is plenty of variety. Adding 47 more will just be overload, confusing to newbies and old farts like me.

Don't need it. If someone wants to play as a gnoll, let them install the mod. Keep the game clean.

It doesn't need to be the full 47,like some of the races are homebrewed or taken from other games like final fantasy. It can just be the races that already in the 5e PHB as playable races since they are using the 5e rule set but i will update that in the post.

There is actually a couple of reasons Devs wont add mod content to the game officially an da lot of it is legal crap, the rest is they have to make sure it fits in with the longevity of the game in its totality, the rest are some reasons.

The main one is if a mod is open sourced it becomes near impossible cuz they would have to seek everyone permission who have ever added to that mod as each one of them would have some creative work in the mod and all would have to give permission on a legal level so if its that its likely a nope.

The other is IP rights, this mod is adding stuff from the rest of DnD and they may not have permission from WoTC to use that property, a mod can get away with it cuz its free and no money is made, but a company like larian wont risk it if its not property it has the right to.

Another reason looking at the mod is the FFXIV cross over so clearly thats an automatic nope haha

A personal reason is NO TORTLE HOW DARE!!!!
