I found her with High Priestess Gut, where she turned hostile when I killed Gut. I didn't think about that that time, but maybe Sazza will live if you deal non-lethal damage to her there?
Fast forward to the goblin camp - I reunited with Sazza, who talked my way into their ruin encampment, and she leads me directly to Minthara. Minthara greets her with the intention of feeding her to her spiders after discerning (incorrectly) that I am a fellow "True Soul" and there are several dialogue options where I can address this, one of which presents itself as "I tried explaining things to her, but she was too stupid to understand" - I personally recommend this choice as everyone in my party had approved of this line at the time.
Sazza begs for her life, but to no avail. Minthara immediately begins talking about how I will aid her in slaughtering the denizens of the grove. We reach the point in our dialogue where you have to make a choice: aid her in taking the grove or attack her. If you attack her and kill everyone in proximity, all of the goblins inside the main portion of the building included, a reward prompt ends up popping up about Sazza's gratitude for having been saved.
I was unable to find her afterwards but it seems that on paper it is entirely possible to save her from her fate of being eaten by the spiders.
Sazza is going to tell Minthara where the Grove is regardless, so 'commit' to the raid, then when Minthara and her gobs (not Sazza, she leaves by this point) show up, attack Minthara instead.
You can pretend to work with Minthara and then bait them all into besieging the grove
As long as Sazza is alive you will can run in to her again twice more later in the story. Even if you do wipe out all of the goblins you can knock Sazza and Minthara out while slaying the rest and they'll appear later on in the story with redemption arcs, sort of.
If you kill Gut before Ragzlin then you can just ignore the main chamber goblins - where Sazza returns to if you instruct Minthara to spare her, which you will need to do. There's another route in through the upper level so you still have free run of the place.
You can interrupt the conversation with Minthara after completing the Sazza part but before triggering the grove raid if you like as well, for example by switching to another companion while in dialogue and shoving your own speaking party member out of range, or committing a crime like destroying the warning drum that will get Sazza to give you a warning and leave the conversation.
You can knock Minthara out and she'll reappear even if you side with the thieflings? First I've heard of that I've got to say. But cool if true.
Yeah, in the "passives" option you can enable non-lethal mellee and just knock some enemies out. For story purposes in that specific story it counts as them being "defeated", Halsin recognizes Minthara as such. It does break Minthara and Sazza's AI in act 1 but in the later acts they appear like normal. Essentially letting you spare both Sazza and Minthara.
