Act 3 Strange Apple

I grabbed the Strange Apple and took it into the lower city like it asked but nothing has happened. I tried clicked on it and dropped it. Do I need to take the apple to a specific location?

It's possible you missed it, but it basically disappears and leaves you a note. Check your inventory (but a bug is possible)

this happened to me as well. The only reason i can think of is that the person that picked up the apple transferred it to my inventory and maybe the game decided then that "we decided not to help the strange ox" for some reason.

You need to take it to the lower city. The dialogue pops the moment you transfered maps into lower city for the first time. Seems anything strange ox / strange apple related causes bugs with plenty of people. I had no bugs at all. (Put the apple in your underpants to be sure it's in your inventory and to motivate it's departure.)
If the apple was in a partymember upon said map transfer, then you would have had a "magic pockets bug" rather then a" strange ox bug"
