How to breakup with Shadowheart?

Like the title says.
I shared a bottle of wine with her in the early game. However I've grown to like Karlach a lot more. My approval with Karlach is even higher than with Shadowheart, and I want to break up with Shadowheart in the hope that I can become eligible for a Karlach romance, but I can't find any way to do so...

Is the Shadowheart romance inescapable? It sucks that I can't pursue someone else...

That's just it... I'm at the very start of act 2, and I just fixed her heart and ... if her companion quest is killing the "Paladins of Tyr" then i did that...

I also like Karlach way more. But I also cant get away from Shart. I fixed Karlach's heart and I am in Act 3 already. Still no dreams/nightstands/holding hands/etc options.

I feel I will have to settle with Shart instead because Karlach simply won't look at me.

If not, then you aren't officially a couple with her.

End of Shart's Act 2 quest, you had to declare your love, then do the intermission stuff with her.

For Karlach, you had to fix her heart with Damon and then kiss her. Karlach is VERY forward with what she wants. She will basically tell you if she wasn't burning, she'd jump you there and now.

No, no chance to break up with Shadowheart, that was obviously the first thing I tried before posting this question.

Karlach's heart is fixed, but my only option once I do that is to "Touch" her, "Hug" her, or stand there gawking. There is no kiss option. And earlier in the game we flirted a lot, and it seemed like things were progressing. It's just been completely cold ever since I had wine with Shadowheart.

Take her for a nice walk on the beach, and then use the shove action towards the water.

I don't see the option to break up. I see options "talk about our relationship" and some other similar option to talk about feelings. And thats it.

For Karlach we had a hug after the end of the heart quest.

It looks like all my romance is messed up now. Sad.

Yeah, I'm afraid you need a new game because if you keep hitting on her early in act 1 or if you let her know in the camp party that you are into her, 1-2 scenes will trigger to further her romance. That way, once you cool her down in act2, youll be able to mess around with her and have a proper romance.

If you didn't get any of those, then rip my friend.

I found that Lae'zel doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about my romance with Shadowheart. She's obsessed with me and she came over during the night anyway. I accepted her feelings and we started a romance. The next thing that happens is Shadowheart breaks up with me, saying we can be friends. Now I can dump Lae'zel (there's a dialog option for that) and I should be open for Karlach after that. But I don't want to make my save into a Mexican novela, so I'm good. You can try that if you have the chance.

She will ask you shortly after (like 2-3 days or so) about the kiss and stuff. You have the option to say to remain just friends or something along these lines, which i accidently did my first playthrough.

What do you mean by inescapable? If Shadowheart don't call you your lover, the romance with her is not complete. I got Shadowheart as lover and as soon I reached this point, I always got the option to break up.

For Karlash, it's a long run and the final stages of romancing her are in Act 3. The only important thing to romance Karlash is to have the first romance scene before end of Act 2. If it doesn't happen, you are screwed but if it happened, be patient and wait Act 3.

It's too late at your point in the game OP. Just remember the next run, to focus on a romance with Karlach. It's far better than the one you will have with Shadowheart.
