Cooler needed, for high powered MacBook Pro 16" &/or settings adjustments?
So I know very well that Macs are less than ideal for gaming, to say the least.
I just got a MacBook which is pretty much the most powerful laptop Mac available from Apple. I can't really afford a gaming pc, while the Mac was a necessary expense!
Even so, while playing BG3, I am getting more of the fan running and the unit heating up than I would like.
Should I try out one of these notebook cooling pads. Will this make a difference?
If so, I have seen some pretty inexpensive ones, with just fans, which have pretty high ratings. I have also seen a bit more pricey ones which have 'thermoelectric' elements as well, or with 'semiconductor' elements.
Will any of these help the issue?
In the meantime, what settings should I change?
I was under the impression that the game auto detected your system specs to optimize, though perhaps since this is still in test phase, this could be an issue.
So if settings are a temporary, or a longer term solution, which adjustments should I make to them right now to significantly, and I mean greatly(!) cut down on fan running high and overheating?
Thanks in advance...

I would say lock fps to 60 (30) -that will reduce GPU watt use drastically, but I think your mac already runs at that low fps so not sure, first you have to say what are you getting

my best suggestion is to just invest in a mid range pc in the future which will be around 1000 dollars/euros, best suggestion

a 25 dollar cooling pad helps my laptop, they are pretty decent.

Most macbooks have an aluminum shell which is way better at conducting heat than plastic windows laptops. So an external fan cooler might even be more efficient than on a windows laptop.

The auto-detect settings aren't perfect, you'll want to experiment with the settings a bit.

^settings won't do anything. It's cpu/gpu usage - you need to limit them by either undervolting or caping frames. Changing in-game setting won't lower the W usage of the system
