What warlock patron?
Considering a Githyanki Warlock with pact of the blade to take advantage of their racial bonuses for better weapons and armor. Plus the fact you can fix their most telling issue with lack of darkvision with Devils Sight. But what I am hung up on is their warlock patron choice.

Great Old One seems fitting for Gith, since they are psychic oriented. But am I missing something obvious?

Pact of the Blade is only good if your party is missing melee fighters, just like Sword Bard. If not, you're better of with the tome. Never take Chain because you can get Shovel as a free permanent Quasit as Warlock.

EDIT: Oh yeah, also GOO lock is best. Especially for Githyanki, at least thematically. Patron doesn't *really* matter.

Normally I'd make a strong argument for Fey, but with the changes to improved invisibility and the sheer number of other ways to get misty step with out using pact magic it's unfortunately one of the weakest options :(

Still farie fire can be quite good at the early levels for party wide AoE advantage

Thematically, Fiend may make most sense. Historically, the Githyanki forged an alliance with Tiamat and that is how they get their dragon mounts.

Where is this Shovel?

Act 1, the underground cellar in Blighted Village. It's the same place where the Necromancy of Thay book is.

Shovel can be summoned by a scroll found in one of the chests there.

Where is this Shovel?

In the Blighted village in act one. In the alchemy basement. There is a Quasit summoning scroll in one of the caskets. Use it and it summons a unique quasit. Talk to it, then talk to it again once you get past the mirror and he says "spellshite? Use shiny magic to call Shovel for fisting" and that's it.

He is hilarious in combat. He yells fisting time and stuff.
