Astarion is the only good male character
That's pretty much it. Best story. Best voice acting. Best outcome (this is a low bar, though, the ending is pretty scuffed overall). He just has the most likable qualities (despite the fact that most of his approvals/disapproval are contradictory, I blame Larian for that).

I liked Gale at the beginning, but his obsession with love and death and Mystra becomes dull.

Wyll was rather dull too. He was more interesting in the beta. I think Wyll and Mizora should have had a more love/hate relationship, instead of all hate.

Halsin just wanted to ♥♥♥♥ me.

Minsc was pretty good, but I accidentally didn't get him till like the very end.|

Any thoughts? Disagreements?

EDIT: This only applies to companions. If we were talking about best male character overall, it would obviously be Raphael as the best male character.

EDIT2: And yes, of course, and this is just an opinion. Ya' whiner babies.

Gale is dull because he's obsessed with Mystra? The man ♥♥♥♥♥♥ a literal goddess - the goddess of magic, I might add - and you think it's dull that he's so obsessed with her?

The correct way to say that kind of things would be " from my point of view, i liked Astarion more than the others because i think...."

There are no real answers here just different tastes in characters.

Unsure how this is so common with people I meet. I list out a bunch of reasons for something, then they pick out the last one and focus on that. He is dull because he obsesses over these things (not just Mystra, but his impending demise). Beginning in Act 2 almost every conversation ends with "please let me blow myself up".

if youre talking about companions i agree w/ you, Gale is dead last he's a so annoying

if youre talking about male characters in general, ketheric is #1 for sure

Ketheric has one of the most badass villain introduction...

Because they're all the same, though. His obsession with love stems from having ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the goddess of magic. His obsession with death comes from wanting to earn her forgiveness. His obsession with her comes from the fact that he considers having "betrayed" her to be the greatest mistake he ever made.

Also, again, the man had sex with the literal goddess of all magic. I'd say that warrants a little "obsessing" over.

Ketheric was very good! I was shooketh when I heard his voice.
I disagree.
I'm sure there are people who agree with you though.

Yes, that's correct. If we were talking about best male character overall, it would obviously be Raphael.

If you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ a literal godess of magic and did something to upset her so greatly that she breaks up with you, then you would regret it as well...

Astarion had a compelling character arc, from tricking me into looking at a pig, showing up at my campsite, trying to give me midnight succotash, then getting staked through the heart for his exuberance.

Not a large role, but a memorable one.

Exactly!

I feel like Astarion and Shadowheart had the most care put into their storylines. The rest of the characters are static, but those two are truly changed by your journey together and they can have vastly different outcomes based on your own character's alignment. I guess you could argue the same for Laezel since she can realize her faith in Vlaakith is misplaced, but it doesn't make that much of a drastic change as when Shadowheart finds out what Shar took from her.

Personally I don't mind characters that are a bit more static. I did a full playthrough focused on Gale and Wyll, and both are solid companions. Wyll is that classic good guy archetype that puts everyone else above himself, so that can only get so deep but it's fine for people that want that option. I liked Gale as well, but he's very similar to Wyll. They're both like comfort food.

Karlach wins hands down for having the worst endings to a storyline and Haslin is barely a companion.

I felt like the bard singing in the drove cove and Ketheric voices sounded muffled. The audio seems alot lower for them in certain moments.

Honestly I find Asterian two dimensional

Token gay flamboyant vampire seeking release / to overthrow his master

The fact that if you allow him to drink your blood without stopping him he kills you, lies about it and doesn't care really shows how selfish and untrustworthy he is. Truth is both my good and evil characters would kick him to the curb
