You also do not have the 60 days needed, really. In game mechanics, you can sure... but in concept waiting 2 months makes that kinda ridiculous... and obvious why you cant find that loot.
As for lichdom, that needs level 9 spells... kinda outside of the purview of this game. WAY beyond most campaigns in the tabletop even.
(edit) Even the 5e variant rules only STARTS once the caster gains level 6 spells... and can take centuries. "Wizards, Druids, and Bards might bargain for the knowledge from powerful fiends, demons, or gods while Clerics and Warlocks might possibly receive the knowledge from their benefactor after undertaking a perilous journey. Knowledge of the ritual is divided into three parts; the phylactery, the potion, and the invocations of power. All three parts must be known in order to begin the ascension into lichdom. The missing knowledge makes itself known via the existing knowledge, so knowing at least one part of the ritual assures that you know of the two other parts you require. Obtaining all three parts of the ritual at once is possible, but rare." - from the 5e variant rules. It takes TIME... and isnt't something we have within the narrative. But something you might consider as "things I would, in character, plan for my future..."
Explain Balthy, Lady Lucretius, the Apostle of Myrkul. All the necro/wizard laboratories that have the books still there and even in some cases a summoning/creation circle already set up.
If only we knew of a few devils that wanted to make deals with us....
Larian clearly isn't sticking to the D&D rules, so why expect them to?
