I think the secret staff in Lorroakans Tower is bugged.

So this staff has an affix that's a toggleable passive that let's you cast your next spell without expending a spell slot. That to me suggests a one time thing.
But here's how it's working for me. ALL my spells are for free, I never expend spell slots anymore. This one staff has eliminated any sort of resource management for my Warlock. Limitless fireballs, blights, flame strikes, just unlimited power.
And here's the kicker, I'm a pact of the blade warlock, I'm not even using the d@mn thing, it's just sitting in my inventory, and I still get these wild benefits from it.
This seems to me to be way to overpowered compared to everything else I've encountered in the game thus far.
The way it's worded makes me think it's just to supposed to be one free spell, and once used, I don't get it again until a long rest.
In reality, it just makes spellcasting limitless, and you don't even need to be wielding it.
Anyone else find this staff to and have similar results? I forget the name of it, it starts with an M. It's shielded by a forcefield in the tower, but regardless, you can just pick it up anyway.

Might be a bug with the item, though the Arcane Battery doesn't say it's on long or short rest in the wiki.

Its once per short rest. Not unlimited use per spell. Cantrips are always 'free'

Yes! Thank you, that's the one. And yea, it's doing far more than I think it was intended to. Even as written it would still be a useful thing to have. But as it actually functions it's just bonkers.

Short rest, ok, my mistake. But that's still not how it's functioning for me. I can just cast all my spells for free, I never expend spell slots at all, no matter how many I use.
And this passive functions just having the staff in my inventory, I'm not even wielding it.
