Tactician difficulty poll: Did you really find it difficult?
Hey,

As a Larian games player, always in tactician, I can confirm (my opinion) that BG3 is by far the easiest game. Divinity, specially the last one is by far the hardest.

In Divinity I had to prepare for every fight, be tactic, reload many times, saves between fights, etc. In BG3 (almost finished it) I still didn't found a difficult fight. Didn't prepared the party or builds, no reloads, no saving in battle, no nothing...

What do you think?

Levels 1-4, yes.
Levels 5+, no.

1-4, had to use tactics, consumables, and rely on the surprise round.
5+ I could just auto attack and win. Barely any 'gimmick' fights where you had to solve a puzzle. Gyrm golem and Avatar of Death are the only two off the top of my head that had special mechanics.

i was inspired last night to try Tactican from a stream i watched of this person doing a Solo challenge tacticain. she made it look so easy and her old videos has her playing each class doing this.

so i tried it out myself and got wiped, i´m not ready for this yet x.x i even had full party. this streamer was the same person that played dark souls on a dancing pad.

i thought it was a good mix of challenging and rewarding on tactician, but I have DMd a lot of tabletop 5e. would probably be different if not

the reason its not hard is because we level too fast. most people hit 12 while barely into act 3 which means they were grossly overleveled for the entire game. they need to trhottle the leveling so that you hit 12 closer to the end.

i found tactician hard in act 1, it took me a lot of tries to get the flaming sword on the nautiloid (i refused to cheees it). but after you get gear and overlevel everything you just blow threw it all so easily

Yes. I also find certain fights on balanced very hard (the big jump ups in difficulty spikes in certain fights only, mostly balanced is very balanced).

I had the same experience. I found levels 1-4 to be really challenging. Then once I hit 5 and above, it became a cake walk. I've had very few encounters that have taken more than one try to beat.

The amount of gear buffs, potions and especially the mindflayer buffs make this game way too easy.

What do I think? I think you are lying.

No the game is not easy. It could be if you're one of those who constantly respecs, meta games, and lets be clear. Easy mode or cheat code for this game is kill all the merchants and take their stuff, and you end up with all the most powerful items and yes the game becomes easy at that point. Yes you don't actually have to plan or think when you have all the best items in game. This is the case for every game ever made. So no going murder hobo and bragging about how easy the game is, sorry man not impressed at all.

I think one little change that would make Tactician Mode more difficult is making Failed checks invisible to the player. So if you are approaching a trap and you fail the check to detect that trap, then you wouldn't have any idea and are more likely to trigger it.

I have never played this game in tactician dificulty, but normal is super easy even with lvl 1-4. i have played BG like games whole my life (44), and know that i can handle them in harder versions. My problem is, that i like to test different kind of builds too much, before i go to hardest. But what i have learned from post here and other places, that this game needs harder options in start. Harder challenge means that you need to use skills/spells that you don't, when playing normal.

Barely started a group tactition run.
First impression is that everyone is getting one-shot by everything at the start.
To me the different between tatical and explorer is how much time i waste in battle.
I just think the extra hp waste my time.
Nothing more.

I lost 2 times. One time trying to get the sword during the tutorial and one at the paladin hunting Karlach. Never even came close again. Don't wanna hear that 5e is too easy, Solasta managed to make much harder campaigns. Larian's last 3 games have been some of the easiest rpgs I've played and BG3 is easier than even DOS2.

Balanced is closer to actual DnD specs, These kids that come on here and brag about the game being easy, aren't actually playing Dungeons and Dragons. They are gaming, they are finding exploits, they making powerbuilds utilize the broken multiclass system, they are killing and stealing everything that isn't nailed down to get the best items. They aren't actually putting a party together and playing DnD like a roleplaying game, they are approaching it like its dark souls or something. And that's fine to play that way, I just find it interesting these kids have to dunk on 5e when most people think of it as a casual game.

My first playthrough is tactician difficulty and I'm as stupid as my warlock who have 8 intelligence, at least after I respect him. I never use short rest because I thought partial rest is short rest, leveled up my intelligence as warlock, didnt take agonizing blast until level 9, speedrun the game without doing much sidequests and end the game at level 11 as mindflayer.

It wasn't really that bad, the only fight I struggle is against the Gith at emperor's hideout because of hold person. I'm too stupid for this game that I only just realize that Shar enemies have radiant retort after beating them at house of grief, no wonder Shadowheart kept dying.

Most fights ended with one or two of the party death, others are low health and kept running out of potion and supply camp. Again because I never used short rest.
