Thoughts about the Emporer
So, this might be a far fetch but I think I've read this somewhere before and watching the starting cinematics again, I wonder if the Mindflayer who infects you on the ship is actually the Emporer? I am not completely done with the game yet, so if this is revealed later on, just ignore me^^.

Like, there a plenty of dead Mindflayers around. The cloths he's wearing resemble those you can find later on his hideout. I know you actually think its Zalk, but who says there's just one on the ship? Obviously there were more, and maybe with catching Shadowheart and the artifact (we never learn if she succeded with her mission before getting caught or required it on the ship, do we?), he explored his chance to get out of the controll - just as he tells you. Clearly he never tells you everything. So my thought is, that the ship caught Shadowheart with the artifact, it freed his mind, so he used his chance to build up a little private army. He was gathering new prisoners, but got distracted by the dragon attack. So he fled into the prism himself, to be save, and from there used you to go for his own goals.

I might be misremembering, but there's some info that you get when the hobgoblin ruler of the goblinoid tribe that you find in the Shattered Sanctum, Dror Razglin, is attempting to communicate with a dead mind flayer. The narrator says something around the lines of "this is the one who infected you and should the hobgoblin manage to speak with him, he'll learn that this mind flayer knows your face". Now it could be that this is meant more generally. That this particular mind flayer was on the nautiloid that kidnapped and it was part of the crew that infected you. However, I always interpreted it in a more literal way, as in, this individual mind flayer itself is personally responsible for infecting you, but I could be mistaken.

The mindflayer that infects you is the one you can kill on the beach in act1.
Narattor states it explicitelly.

And Emperor real identity is kinda cool twist but you must find Baldur’s gate’s guardian to find that out.

Nah, you meet the mindflayer who infected you at the goblin camp in act one and Ragsin(?) lets you speak to dead with it to try find the artefact.

Not exactly. It's the same one that is on the bridge, commanding you to connect the thingies. The one on the Goblin Camp is the one that infected the player with the tadpole.

If you kill the one on the bridge, that one you can talk to on the beach is still alive. So they're not the same.

Considering there is no other Mindflayer on the ship itself, other than the corpses and the one getting shanked by Imps upon entering the bridge, it's safe to assume that it's one and the same.

Besides, during the crashing cutscene, the game considered the Mindflayer on the bridge alive, regardless of what you do with him. Otherwise he wouldn't appear alive and well in said cutscene.

It doesn't really help that all of them look and dress the same, however.

The mindflayer you see in the beginning, right before you're falling of the ship, and having eye contact with, that's him. I came to that conclusion because he exactly looks the same and he is there to rescue you from breaking your neck.

So you're wrong AND the game has it's first major oopsie before the tutorial even ends?

I don't get the part where the Emperor can suddenly change camps and defend the brain, if you actually climb up there not using Gale's nuke.

Why all the effort to get you there ( defeating or weakening Githyanki, Shar cultists and 3 demigods ) only to try and stop you at the brain at the very last momnet ? Or was it his intend all along to take control over it himself and acts against you when it becomes obvious you are going to destroy it ?

You must have missed that room with dozens and dozens of mindflayers stored in pods.

If you're referring to the one, you've transformed into a Mindflayer by engaging with a the console, maybe but I'd assume she died upon crash. Though I don't know how sturdy they are, if there's lore behind it.

The state of the others in the pods are unknown, be that they are in the form of mindflayers or just like the girl in the pod.

In my runs, the Mindflayer on the Bridge was always alive, so it would make sense - if that's the "canon" way to go about things on the bridge - that he'd be one in the cutscene and being on the beach respectively.

I'm simply going by process of elimination, based on my run and experience, little buddy.

If you want to engage in a discussion, do so properly. I have no interest in engaging in your so-called "argumentation" or lack there of.

But you are literally engaging.
The argument is that what you said is wrong.

Based on what, your run and choices you made during it? That's hardly an argument, not that you have provided one to begin with.

As much as I know that you love antagonizing people for the stupidest reasons, you could at least provide provide a explicit argument. Simply saying"Ur wrong" is about as childish and idiotic as it gets.

Either engage properly or don't engage at all. Either way, that'll be the last I say on that matter since you keep sticking to your MO. :HappyMoonman:
Man the likes of you really have trouble following their own advice it seems, say one thing do one thing. So weird. *Shrug*
