This game is really starting to piss me off.
Every encounter is either a cake walk or TPK if I am not paranoid and split my party and prepare for an ambush every new room and now after picking up so bombs my quick save after a very hard fight a couple of my characters just die and youd think itll be the bombs. And youll be right except I have more bombs on another character that dont go off. and during the combat I was pushed off the ledge and wanted to misty step back up except I cant cause i cant see the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ floor. I mean this game is impossible to beat without a tpk without prior info on all battles

Skill issue. Play on easy and download cheat engine. They have the challenging fights in there for those of us who have more than a couple of brain cells.

Weird how I have never had this problem even on the hardest difficulty.

Don't know what to tell you. I'm sure you're serious about how unreasonably hard you find it, but it's hard to say why you're having that experience so all I can add is that obviously that's not the case for everyone.

How did you beat yurgir? Did you fight him after talking to him or did you ambush him yourself?

I probably wouldn't be this pissed if I could do the things I want that make sense. Like have all my characters attack at once the big bad guy instead of wait for their turn. or misty step back up to the ledge i was just pushed from. But I guess thats what alert does

Ok then enlighten me. How do I get good? I am pretty damn sure I am not an idiot cause if I am an idiot then 95% of every one I meet would be idiots.

I've done both with no issue. Even talked him into killing himself. Or done somehting else entierly to make him disappear without needing to fight him. There are so many ways to resolve that situation.

From my understanding ( as a moron) the game rewards creative thinking. It's about using the environnement and such.

Initiative is important, and so Alert is helpful. but ya know works better. Ambushing your opponent and getting surprise. When your character is in dialogue that may lead to a fight you can switch characters, and start to plan your attack. And a lot of times you actually just attack before the dialogue is over to get a surprise round. Bait your opponents, minor illusion is awesome. Set up ambushes, lead them into traps. Going head to head and relying on initiative is a great way for all of your non dexterity based characters to go last.

DOS:2 is a masterpiece in fun combat, this game is pretty good too. You've got to be creative with combat, it's not JRPG click attack and do 25k damage combat, it's way better.

I don't know about "designimg" but Larian is pretty good at designing combat.
Just look at DOSII. Peak combat design that nobody dislikes.

You can do this. Make all your character's sneak, enter turn based mode, attack from stealth, your enemy will be surprised and won't be able to take a turn until all your characters have moved.

of course! move my other party members to advantageous positions during dialogue when it looks like things are going south. That would help me out alot.
